QE but no splash effect

OpenGL Extensions Viewer claims my renderer to be my gfx card.

 

1. I can play chess

 

2. My screensaver works fine

 

3. I get no ripple effect

 

4. Front Row : the app works, but I can't watch anything (I can watch movie with VLC fine)

 

My gfx card is Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT from EFI

 

the 'All Windows' feature in Exposé is really choppy.

 

 

 

 

Any idea? How come I get no ripple effect but I can play chess etc? is QE working or not? The choppy exposé issue is the worst.
