Hester6572
Hi i have installed ideneb on my acer extensa 5420. It was working fine until it started to kernal panic when mounting .dmg files and trying to print things. So i formated the hardrive and tried to install it again. However on startup i get up to the point where there is the apple logo but then an little cross appears then the whole just freezes. Does anyone have a solution to this problem any help would be great Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192156-acer-and-ideneb/ Share on other sites

Hester6572
I can't boot up with "-v". I installed the Vodoo kernal that came with the disk. this was what i used on the original install (that worked) but due to a kenernal panic had to be formatted away. Could you help me with choosing the right drivers/ patches. I have a acer extensa 5420 with amd cpu and ati graphics display. vilpostus
Options depend on the install disk used. As the contents very from disk to disk. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192156-acer-and-ideneb/#findComment-1303848 Share on other sites

Hester6572
I typed this in :chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/MacHD/System/Library/Extensions/*ATA* But it says file doesn't exist but the first and last command works. What should I do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192156-acer-and-ideneb/#findComment-1305352 Share on other sites

Hester6572
Does it matter that my hardrive is sata? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192156-acer-and-ideneb/#findComment-1308602 Share on other sites
vilpostus
Some SATA disk controllers are not supported by OS X. So it is not directly a SATA disk problem, it's more like disk controller problem.
