davegarbs
I recently tried installing OS X on a P4 2.8Ghz socket 478 processor with no success. I put in the 10.4.5 DVD (which installed fine on my dell laptop) and boot from CD. The Darwin loader shows up so I press enter to install like it says. Within 5 seconds of it loading, the processor fan speeds up and the dvd drive spins really fast and the computer reboots. Never do I see the actual Apple installer. The motherboard is made by Asus although I don't have the exact model number at this moment. Does anyone know off of the top of their head what could be causing this problem? Plecky
If you're asking from "the top of my head" you can get it I had boot problems with the dvd because i had a USB hub in my monitor connected to the pc. Don't know how that related to the dvd, but unplugging it allowed boot and install. Everything else would be a wild guess without you providing some more information. What other hardware do you have?
