simpod
Hey guys I am very new to this Mac OSx86 thing (and mac) I have been working on this for about three days and im sure some of you will understand my head needs a defrag Anyhooz I have so far managed to get Windows 7 (some of the releases - cant remember which) on partition 1 and Kalyway OSX 10 Leopard on the second. I've just finished up working on EasyBCD and got it to work with both OS's So When the EasyBCD bootloader loads and i select Mac OSX - it continues to the bootloader that comes built in with the Kalyway install so I have to go through two bootloaders (in case you ask - im using EasyBCD cos it worked better for me) how do I remove the second bootloader (the original that came with kalyway)? Thkz for any help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192020-dual-booting-help/ Share on other sites
srs5694
In your configuration (using EasyBCD first), you can't. OSx86 requires a boot loader that emulates at least part of Intel's Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), which is designed as a BIOS replacement. EasyBCD doesn't emulate EFI (at least, AFAIK), so it can't be used to boot OS X directly. There are a couple of alternatives to simplify matters: Reconfigure the system so that the OSx86 boot loader (Chameleon, PC-EFI, Boot Think, etc.) runs first. In a standard installation, the Windows 7 boot loader doesn't present a menu at all (unless the system wasn't shut down cleanly), so if you have the OSx86 boot loader run first and restore Windows to its default boot loader, you'll see just one boot loader menu. Leave EasyBCD to boot first and configure your OSx86 boot loader to boot OSx86 by default with a low timeout value. You'll still see two boot loader menus, but the second will come and go very quickly (say, in just one second), so it won't be obtrusive. This is probably a simpler and easier approach than the previous one, provided you can find the right configuration file. It has the disadvantage that it'll be harder to enter OSx86-specific boot options (to select a different kernel or enable verbose boot mode, for instance) if you need to do so. Unfortunately, I can't be more specific than this, since I'm completely unfamiliar with EasyBCD, I don't know what OSx86 boot loader you're using, and my knowledge of OSx86 boot loader configuration files and options isn't that great. I recommend you consult the documentation for EasyBCD and your OSx86 boot loader to learn how to do these things. Thanks a lot ill have a look into that I think the loader that OSx86 is using is Darwin or sumthing like that but ill have a look Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192020-dual-booting-help/#findComment-1298461 Share on other sites

On the other hand I had OSx86 installed before I installed windows 7. That was only because I had vista on when i installed OSX to second partition and it wouldnt load so I formatted the vista partition and made it the active partition and installed 7 on it. I assume you have made CD/DVD the first device in the boot priority list in your BIOS? boonflop
Yeah the cd DVD is my first priority boot What is the rd5 file? I read somewhere that you must make sure it matches with something. But I'm not sure how to check this. What do I compare it too and does it get included within the image file?? Another thing. When I format my second partition for OSx and mark it active. When I put my iAKTOS DVD in I get the good ol missing bootmgr Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192020-dual-booting-help/#findComment-1298748 Share on other sites
