gwprod12
Most likely your drives are attached incorrectly (from OS X's perspective) I think but I'm not 100% sure that PATA hard drive should be master, and cdrom should be slave on primary IDE. cable select futzes with mac os. Rammjet
i have succeed install with the DVD but when the boot i get this error During installation, right before clicking the Install button, first click the Customize button and select packages for your computer. Click the little arrow to the left of the patches category to reveal the individual packages. Select Intel packages, not AMD. Select SSE2 or SSE3 depending upon the capability of your processor. Select the Combo update. Select other packages only if you are sure you computer can use them. Examples: 10.4.7 - 10.4.8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19160-still-waiting-for-root-device-error/#findComment-248400 Share on other sites

Examples: 10.4.7 - 10.4.8 I have a feeling this is the single biggest mistake people make when installing, not selecting customize.. I forgot to do it myself the 2nd time I installed and got the same error.. 4 hours later.. ahhhh.. Jas should consider some added messages on that dialog box / step if possible. I'd estimate a huge percentage - maybe more than half of those trying the install DVD don't choose customize and end up using the it as a coaster assuming that osx won't run on their machine. Rammjet
I have a feeling this is the single biggest mistake people make when installing, not selecting customize.. At least 3000 of my posts must be dedicated to that. Jas should consider some added messages on that dialog box / step if possible. I'd estimate a huge percentage - maybe more than half of those trying the install DVD don't choose customize and end up using the it as a coaster assuming that osx won't run on their machine. Unless he forgets, that has been addressed for any future DVD's he might produce. There is a way to make the Customize window appear by default.
