arachn1d
My download is almost done. So this is what I do right? I got a 60gb hd. Resize windows to 30gb, make a 6.5 gig partition for osx. Load image through daemon, boot up vmware. Install. Resize 6.5gig to 30 gig, reboot, have fun? What am I missing? gwprod12
As far as I know, there's no specific requirement about a 6.5 gb partition. You should make your partition the size you want it from the beginning. If the image is in ISO format, you can load it with vmware instead of using daemon tools. You kinda have to maneuver vmware a bit to make it work... this isnt a project for someone who doesnt know how to change vmware settings. arachn1d
After I install it through vmware. How do I make it so I can dual boot into both windows and osx? And I thought I kept reading to install mac osx I need a 6.5 gig partition? Oh well. Colonel
6.5 GB will be fine, but the OSx86 installation takes around 3 GB. You might want to make it a bit bigger if you want to be using OSx86. gwprod12
The impression I got was that he wanted to end up with a 30gb partition for OSx, but was going to start witha 6.5.. as far as I know, you cant expand a 6.5gb mac parition into a 30gb mac partition and still have it work. I was saying he should start with the partition size he ultimately wants, instead of one that's 6.5, thinking it can be expanded later. arachn1d
Would I be able to resize it at a later date? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19096-is-this-right/#findComment-125062 Share on other sites
gwprod12
You need at least a 6gb+ partition in order to DD the tiger.bz2 image onto... this isnt the same thing, you're installing from DVD. Make Sense? Colonel
There is a way to resize Mac partitions, but it has only been able to run on true Intel Macs. It is a file that Boot Camp uses, but a Hackintosh can access it. Nobody has had any luck using it and resizing their disk with it yet, though. arachn1d
So what would you recommend to use as my size? I basically just want to play around and use it for programming/learning ruby. gwprod12
I dunno, that's up to you... just dont make it small if you want large, because there's not much you can do about it after install.
