CPU runs 10-15 degrees hotter in 10.6 vs 10.5 or Windows...interesting trial/error

I first noticed something wrong when my ultra-silent PC (ok, I'm one of those silent PC freaks), became audible. The longer it was on (going on 4 hours), it got more audible to the extent that my son can hear across the room ... this is completely 100% unacceptable :D

So, I need some help from fellow board members here...

I've read all the posts about temperature fixes...I've downloaded:

1) Temp Monitor (and Lite)

2) AppleACPIPlatform.kext.zip from here.

3) NullCPUPowerManagement.kext from here.

When I add "3" to the extra/extensions folder by itself, or when I add both "3" and "2" to the extra/extensions folder I get the same outcome...temp in Temp Monitor does drop to 10.5 or Windows level BUT I think this is just fake because:

a) the fan on my CPU spins up the same exact amount -- loud -- with or without the 2 kexts

B) immediately rebooting and measuring CPU temp shows that the temp really hasn't gone down

So...is it possible that Temp Monitor shows a lower temperature but the temperature doesn't actually decrease?

I know for sure that temp in Temp Monitor shows lower but also for sure my PWM fan on the CPU spins up very loud (gradually) and stays loud with or without the kexts.

Any thoughts?...

Thanks,

/mdg.

PS. Here's what my Extra/Extensions folder has in it.

Rename the two AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement kexts in /S/L/E to

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext to AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.bad

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementlient.kext to AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementlient.kext.bad
