Is there no way to format/repartition the partition so I can install this OS? gwprod12 Posted June 4, 2006 Share Posted June 4, 2006 Yes... go to Utilities in the Apple Bar (I guess that's what it's called), and select Disk Utilties. Make sure you know which partition/disk you're formatting. gizbug Posted June 4, 2006 Author Share Posted June 4, 2006 I managed to install 10.4.6 using Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO. I made the bootable DVD, and booted it up on my V6J ASUS laptop I have 2 partitions, both were ntfs, and I took my primary partition and made it the mac (journaling) file system from within the mac os install. It installed, and when it restarted I got " HFS+ Partition error." If I had windows on my c partition, and I formated it with the mac file system, wouldn't that fix this issue? Or could this be MBR related? I am not trying to do a dual boot system, just have Mac OS X on it. No sure why this error comes up on bootup. If i leave the bootable DVD in the drive, the os boots up fine. Very odd. I found this in a guide :: If you get ‘HFS+ Partition error’ or want to read how to create a dual boot read the next steps. 16. Insert the diskette with fdisk, change the active partition to the partition with Windows on it. 17. Boot into Windows. 18. Install Acronis Disk Director Suite, install the OS selector. 19. Start OS selector, configure (follow on screen steps) it and restart your computer. 20. After the last reboot you should see a nice dual boot menu and should be able to boot OSX. ::: But the thing is, I don't have windows anymore, since it was on my C partition, and that was formated, and MaC OS X was put on it. Assuming your computer works since your on here, download this and burn to a cd. It has a bunch of nice free bootable floppy programs, Acronis is one. Havent used it yet but I am having similar troubles as you are. I still have windows though. Good luck. EDIT: Scratch that, I checked Acronis' website and its a $50 program. The one on the cd is probably the trial version which you cant save anything. Anyway that disk is worth to burn and throw in the toolbox trust me! jacob019 Posted July 26, 2006 Share Posted July 26, 2006 If you're not trying to dual boot and you're getting the HFS+ partition error message, than I have an easy fix. Get to a terminal and type "sudo fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0" To get the the terminal you can either boot with an OSX86 install disc (like Jas or goatsecx) and wait for it to timeout (boot your install) or enter single user mode. Once you've executed the command it will ask you to confirm the operation. Answer yes and you should have no trouble next time you boot.
