I'm been almost exclusively on my hackintosh for 3-4 months. I really like it.

I had to help a family member change their setting on their XP machines a few days ago. It is a newer HP. I was amazed by how slow it was, how intrusive Norton (anti?) spyware {censored} was, how long it took to boot with the Norton on there. To me, it was virtually unusable.

Mac OSX I like better than the windows 2003 server (with no crapware on it), but Mac OS X just blows out of the water PCs that come from Dell and HP and the like with the crapware and bloat that nobody realizes slows down their machines dramatically. For someone not computer-savvy, I'd recommend they shell out the extra 300 bucks or whatever and get a Mac. They just plug it in and turn it on, and not worry about it.

One compaint: I must say the lack of a native intel OSX Excel-compatible spreadsheet program is appalling. Can't apple just take some linux open source spreadsheet app, and throw a mac interface on it or something, like with Safari?
