iSorrow Posted October 1, 2009 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Dear all! Sorry in advance if I've doubled any posts 'bout it, but I'm a noob one. There's some necessity occured to install SL on such configuration: - MB - Biostar U8668D (VIA P4M266A); - Intel P4 2.48\1M\533; - IDE Segate 40Gb 5400; (10.5.2 Kalyway geared and feels good with this stuff). Also I've got: SL 10.6 (10А354, v3.4 and v3.5), should b enough I suppose... So my problem is that HDD is IDE and no SATA onboard. In any way I try it to swallow the SL, it stucks. I can't even get to the point where I should "verbose" it to look what's the problem... Only once I've build Ch RC3 and it went me to KP and rebooted, tried to make it once again to photo it, but after the first try it somehow didn't want to do that again, everything I saw is blinking point ontop. Sure my hands aint straight cuz I'm on Mac for a weak only, but could someone please help if there is any way I can install SL on IDE... And also, after googling, could you please say if this is the right way I am thinking? Many thanks in advance!!! For about 6-7 hours yesterday I was messing with bootloaders, patches and injects to make it somehow start... but no success... C'mon, please, anything... (meanwhile I continue googlin')... carny Posted October 2, 2009 Share Posted October 2, 2009 this by no means is a solution but i guess you need these two kexts to allow S/L to boot in IDE HD MODE. Just put them into extensions folder and repair permissions. Remember the snow volume before you install kext. sudo chown -R root:wheel /system/library/extensions sudo chmod -R 755 /system/library/extensions sudo diskutil repairpermissions /volumes/NAMEOFSNOWVOLUME file attached.
