For some time, I successfully installed OS X 10.5.2 and 10.5.6 on my laptop and other computers I've built but I never installed OS X on an AMD build before but it works and now I am trying to fix some few problems. I am worrying about the video problem later since I just bought an ATI 4850 card from newegg and its coming tomorrow since there is no support for onboard graphics ( i have ATI HD4200 intergrated graphics). Here's my build:

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor running at @3.6Ghz (overclocked it and it works since i get kernel panics on stock settings...weird)

G.Skill 4GB Ram 800MHz

Gigabyte MA785G-UD3H -ALC889A audio

SATAII DVD Drive

SATAII 1TB Hard Drive

SATAII 250GB Hard Drive

It took me a while, but I was able to install the iDeneb 1.6v 10.5.6 lite edition since that was the only one that worked. I used the ALC889a driver that came with the iDeneb installation and it worked. The only problem is that theres this weird crackling/static noise everytime I open up and play a song on itunes or play a video on youtube. I also noticed that the video speed on youtube increased and breaks up and the playback speed on itunes was painfully slow and broken up. I was using the Voodoo 9.5 kernel but I am now using Qoopz latest kernel thinking that would fix the problem but nothing. I also tried:

-The ALC889a.pkg fix

-The GA_ALC889 fix

-remove ALCInject.kext

-Using CMI8738PCIAudioDriver.kext with AppleHDA.text (and tried patching it with ALC889adump.txt)

-LegacyHDA

So right now I am stuck! I really don't want to give up on this because I am so close! A little help please?!

I can't be much help yet, but maybe together we can work it out. I have the same mobo, and I'm trying to get iDeneb 1.6 lite to install (it's 10.5.8 by the way) but I've burned two disks and each time I get the same problem, it boots, starts to install, then stops with an error saying unable to install unable to mount image leopard or something like that. Did you have this issue? I was going to try aTKOS 7 next time I had a chance, but if iDeneb worked for you that's what I have on my Dell it works great there.

My setup is as follows

AMD Athlon X3 435 2.9ghz (seems to work for install, just disables one core on boot)

Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H

IDE Optiarc DVD RW

SATA Optiarc DVD RW

1 TB Samsung SATA drive

500 GB Samsung SATA drive (windows 7 on this drive)

400 GB Samsung SATA drive

100 GB WD SATA drive (I want to put Leopard on this had to remove partition before disk utility would see, and of course turn on AHCI)

4gb Adata ddr 800

XFX Geforce 9600 GSO 768 MB ram

Another problem I have found is with AHCI activated, I can't use all my SATA ports, this could be an issued if I get the install working. I will likely pull the 400gb if I can get the install working but the other drives will staty

This is an old thread so I assume no one realy cares but here goes anyway

I have the same board and same problem I only recently found a solution

Part of the problem is overclocking Because osx kernel does not recognize bus multipiers over 16

unless you specify busratio=x I assume yours is set to 18 as you mention 3.60 gigahertz

( 200 x 18 =3.60 ghz )

I have busratio=18 / clock=200 ( manual NOT auto / Southbridge=9 / HyperThread=1800Which is HT=9

The other problem is you must set idlehalt=0 (that is a zero)

Both of these parameters can be tested manualy at the boot screen and if successful

You can edit com,apple.boot.plist ( I may have written that wrong ) but you find the file under

/ library / systemconfiguration /

This solution has worked on 2 different AMD boards and has worked with 10.6
