Hi to both of you,

I have recently finished (read: as of today) a succesfull retail Snow Leopard on the P55A-UD3 motherboard, which is almost the same as you guys have.

What I did was, I restored a retail DVD to a USB stick and used myHack to make it bootable and what not. I booted from the USB and installed Snow Leopard.

After that, I booted once again from the USB but this time I selected my hard drive. And Voila it booted up. After that I installed the required kexts (was a pain for my PS/2 keyboard), repaired permissions, created a new .mkext and everything just worked. It is blazingly fast with an i7 860.

Tip: If you don't have a working Mac, try if you can run on in VMware and restore to USB there (that's what I did).

If you got any specific questions, just ask.

1. No you don't have to unplug your Windows 7 drive, I did however, a simple mistake can easily ruin your Windows 7 installation.

2. I have only changed from IDE to AHCI, all other options are the defaults.

3. Not too sure, I'm using a Nvdia GTX 285 without problems. You can always try to use a graphics disabler, try some 3rd party kexts, and update to 10.6.2 from there.

4. No problem, doesn't matter if it's PS/2 or USB.

I don't understand the 3 point, but in this moment I try to install osx in wmware .....when I try to load the retail dvd and press before c and after F8 (step 5 of this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/12/install...ndows-edition/) I can see again the boot menù

the installation don't start...

p.s. for the moderation :if there is a problem for the link to the guide please remove it

Use this guide: http://gumballtech.com/2010/01/12/how-to-r...re-workstation/

For your other question, OS X uses kexts as drivers. You will need to search the correct kexts for your video card and place it in /System/Library/Extensions after you've done a full install on your normal PC.

that's incredible....virtual machine is ok....osx Sl 10.6.0 installed

I try to update to 10.6.2 but I have problem with my adsl connection....

tomorrow I try again and then I start with the installation of osx in the other hdd...

I have search on netkas for kext and i think that I have find the correct type for me

I go bed

thank you

No need to update to 10.6.2 (It can break stuff). Just keep it with 10.6.0 as you're only going to need it to restore your DVD to a USB stick.

ok, no update

1 I format my usb key in guid, but when I try to restore the osx install dvd I can't find it in the disk utility....

I add It to the setting in the virtual machine and reboot that

open disk utility and I can see the install dvd but when I try to restore I can't select it in the image folder

2 I see on netkas for kext of my ati 4650 and I find this http://netkas.org/?p=284

I download a beta booter but i can't find " irc.osx86.hu #radeonhd topic" for driver

can you help me?

thank you

Make a .dmg of your Install DVD first (Can't remember the exact option but you should be able to figure out how in Disk Utility).

I don't have much experience with ATI cards, sorry.

I use the option restore in the disk utility menù under flash drive

In this moment I wait for the restore of install dvd on the flash drive (20 minutes again)

I must to drag the mac osx install dvd to the source position and then drag the osx install(name of flash drive) in the detination position.

after I run myhack installer

thank you for your help

I run myhack and install it on the usb key

At the end of the installation I reboot and select boot from usb Hdd (the key)

I see the "myhack" logo but when I press one key and select install osx for start the installation of mac osx Sl the system restart automatically...

I try another time but I have the same problem....

the bios is correctly configured

what can I do?

You need a different kernel and place it on your USB stick.

Delete mach_kernel from your USB and replace it with this:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JP2OZ01F

After you've installed Snow leopard, boot into the installation enviroment once again and do some terminal work. The most important thing here is once again to remove mach_kernel from the root of your normal hard drive and replace it with the one I gave you.

After you update to 10.6.2, there's no need for a custom kernel anymore.

The best is to just follow this guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/os-...ing-retail.html

I don'y find mach kernel with search in finder

the virtual machine sometime have a bug...unfortunatly

I read the guide in tonymac

It is not very simple this installation....

thank you

Seems like you don't have much experience with hackintoshes... I think it's best for you if you use a distro like Hazard (Search for it on google), you'll have less of a hassle to get things working

installation complete....using the tonymacx86 cd http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/search?upda...p;max-results=5

I am unable to connecting to internet, how can I solve this problem?

I have a router and a wire to the lan port of my pc but I can't see it in network under control panel...

I have read the guide...the second step don't work....if I don't use the cd boot osx don't start...and reboot

but isn't a problem....I have 3 drive and I can use one for this cd....

when I go to the step 3 I have no problem to install the kext and repair permission, the ethernet appair in network, I set to configure static IP but the internet connection don't work...safari can't load any page

I try another time....

In this moment I download the combo update 10.6.2 and I install it because in this update there are the kext for core i5 for p55 for ati 4650

It's one mounth that I can't work in mac osx ...it's fantastic to see again the desktop, in few second is charged and operative...not windows7.....bleah....

thank you

I mdnz01, I have reinstalled all and first I use pc efi 10.6 and second chamaleont rc4 but every time the system boot don't work without cd tonymacx86

I try another time with your modified version of mach kernel
