mdnz01
Hi to both of you, I have recently finished (read: as of today) a succesfull retail Snow Leopard on the P55A-UD3 motherboard, which is almost the same as you guys have. What I did was, I restored a retail DVD to a USB stick and used myHack to make it bootable and what not. I booted from the USB and installed Snow Leopard. After that, I booted once again from the USB but this time I selected my hard drive. And Voila it booted up. After that I installed the required kexts (was a pain for my PS/2 keyboard), repaired permissions, created a new .mkext and everything just worked. It is blazingly fast with an i7 860. Tip: If you don't have a working Mac, try if you can run on in VMware and restore to USB there (that's what I did). If you got any specific questions, just ask. mdnz01
I haven't tested USB3 or SATA3 yet, and I'm not too sure if Snow Leopard even has drivers for that. No you don't have to unplug your Windows 7 drive, I did however, a simple mistake can easily ruin your Windows 7 installation. 2. I have only changed from IDE to AHCI, all other options are the defaults. 3. Not too sure, I'm using a Nvdia GTX 285 without problems. You can always try to use a graphics disabler, try some 3rd party kexts, and update to 10.6.2 from there. 4. No problem, doesn't matter if it's PS/2 or USB. mdnz01
Use this guide: http://gumballtech.com/2010/01/12/how-to-r...re-workstation/ For your other question, OS X uses kexts as drivers. You will need to search the correct kexts for your video card and place it in /System/Library/Extensions after you've done a full install on your normal PC. mdnz01
No need to update to 10.6.2 (It can break stuff). Just keep it with 10.6.0 as you're only going to need it to restore your DVD to a USB stick. mdnz01
You need a different kernel and place it on your USB stick. Delete mach_kernel from your USB and replace it with this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JP2OZ01F After you've installed Snow leopard, boot into the installation enviroment once again and do some terminal work. The most important thing here is once again to remove mach_kernel from the root of your normal hard drive and replace it with the one I gave you. After you update to 10.6.2, there's no need for a custom kernel anymore. The best is to just follow this guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/os-...ing-retail.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189542-help-with-snow-leopard-on-gigabyte-ga-p55-ud3-motherboard-with-intel-i5/#findComment-1414090 Share on other sites
