Hey all... and anyone out there able to help.

Ok, basically, I have 2 SATA hard drives running off a GA-EP45-UD3R and I really want to set up a Dual Boot as I routinely use both Windows XP and Mac OSX in my day to day life. I am by no means a hackintosh noob but this particular challenge is so far beyond me!...

I really need my system to be as stable as possible and therefore would really rather keep my OSX install as close to the real thing and vanilla as possible. For that reason, I chose to buy a legitimate retail copy of Windows XP and a legitimate retail copy of 10.5.6 so I don't own any iDeneb, iAtkos, Kalway or whatever and don't really wish to.

I know alot of people would at this stage say "why not just buy a Mac?" Well because firstly, there is no way I could afford to shell out for one and secondly, I like the idea that I can maintain and upgrade my pooter as and when I like. As I say, I am not new to this I have successfully installed 10.5.6 many times on my rig.

However, I have scoured many forums and read many posts and tutorials on this particular issue. I have tried various different methods to no real avail. The closest I got was switching drives in the bios which gets teadious after a while. I am just hoping that someone else can suggest something beter...

I would like to have each OS on its own drive. I think that 10.5.6 only installs on GUID partitions anyway so I don't want to mess around with MBR installs. Besides which, I have tried but can't for love nor money seem to get this to work.

I would like not to have to use a boot CD if possible. I have no problem with a USB stick as with BOOT-132 method infact I quite like this method. Chameleon doesn't seem to want to boot XP for some reason... I think that this may be because it is on a different drive. I have also tried the chain0 method but again, I must be missing something because I have problems with it every time so if anyone could explain EXACTLY what I have to do with this one, that might help...

I guess if we could get a comprehensive, once and for all guide on how to do this with 2 HDD's that would be fantastic and I for one would be imeasurably grateful!!

Many thanks all!

http://www.taranfx.com/blog/?p=1204 it is actually about dual booting from the same HDD but a different partition. May be applicable with some modifications.

I personally use GRUB (the legacy one) to boot OS X from a separate HDD. I have a vanilla OS X install. Works good. Though can suggest no easy guide...

Well hey, thanks for the help all the same!

If anyone else can add to this topic I am sure that it would be much appreciated not just by myself but others as well.
