Thanks for any Solutions greetz gdfan PS: Sorry for my bad english I have used a KVM switch on my systems for the past few years without any problem. I use it to switch between systems running WinXP, Leopard - now Snow Leopard and a Linux system that functions as my firewall/router. On Mac OS X I use VoodooPS2Controller.kext and Chameleon2-RC3 with PC-EFI-10.3 to get the GraphicsEnabler injectors to work. Prior to using PC-EFI-10.3 I had EFI strings made by gfxstudio to enable my GeForce 8400 GS card to be recognized correctly. I have never experienced kernel panics caused by switching between systems. Wish I could help. Good luck getting the problem resolved. elviejo
I had the same problem with SL, but, in my case, I use a usb kvm switch; I think SL check periodically and when don't found a display attached panicked, that's what need to be resolved. If this is what's happening, then a workaround might be to plug in an extra keyboard. It wouldn't have to be the one you use, it'd just have to be something to make OS X see that there's a keyboard present. (Adding a mouse might help, too.) You might be able to tuck it away behind the computer or something. It's also conceivable that a different brand/model of KVM would fix the problem, but that's likely to be a more expensive solution, and you might have to try several different models before you found one that worked. BladeRunner
The unit I am using is a Zonet 3004 - 4 port KVM switch. I just did a quick search on Google and I think that unit may have been replaced by a later model number. The reason I purchased this specific model was that it included a complete set of cables so I avoided any cable purchase errors. And, it was listed as being "hot swappable" so I could connect or remove a pc without the need to power down. There was also some text in the specs that said from the PC point of view there was always a monitor/keyboard/mouse connected. That sounded like a good thing to me. The new Zonet 4 port KVM switches appear to run about $40 to $50 USD at places like CDW or NewEgg. gdfan
I tried it witch an additional Keyboard but I could not solve the problem. I would try now to install the graphic kexte from Leo under SL. Is this a good idea or not? Probably not, remember, is not the kext, that behavior occur with whatever video card you are using; anyway, I found this happening when you are running safari or any other app., the best solution until somebody found the real cause, is to let the display go to sleep before switching the kvm. I have an IOGear KVM, but I only use it as a USB switch for Keyboard and Mouse for the Video part I just use dedicated Monitor inputs and switch on the monitor.
