Hello there,

I've installed Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 on my Dell Inspiron 6400.

- Intel Celeron D 1,6 GHz

- 2 x 2GB 800 DDR2

- 160GB Sata

- Broadcom Wireless

- Intel GMA 950

- Intel 100mbit Ethernet

- Sigmatel 92xx Audio

Edit: added a device id text file: lspci.txt

Everything seems to work completely except for 2 minor issues:

- No Sound[!!!!FIXED!!!!]

I've already tried several Sigmatel .kext files etc... Maybe you guys have some more idea's?

Solution: VoodooHDA.kext

- When i click on shutdown the voodoo kernel crashes

At first the laptop would crash when i mounted a .dmg but with some research i found out that this could be fixed with a patch in the iPc Leopard installation. This is no longer a problem although the error, that i receive when i click shut down, looks quite familiar to that one.

I hope you guys can point me a the right direction. I have to mention that i can do some work in the terminal but much more then chown & chmod is to much for me to think about myself.

So if you have some files that can help me out i'd really appreciate it if you can hook me up with some terminal guiding aswel.

Ok thank you!

- Remco

p.s. Here is a nice photo of the dell i'm talking about

Hi

Sound:uninstall all and any drivers/kexts relating to audio then download Voodohda.kext( it can be found in the relevent forum) install that(use kext helper its a great tool).

As far as shutndown is concerned what kernel didi you install at instalation i found that the best was 9.5.0.

Can you remember your customization selections and list them.

Thank you for taking time to help me :)

EDIT: I was able to fix the sound by using VoodooHDA.kext. Awesome! Thank you!

Concerning the kernel: I used 9.5.0 (voodoo) and if i can remember them well i used the following selections:

(click the thumbnail - This one is real life size)

Now when i read the Kernel Panic i can come to 2 conclusions:

- It is saying something about: AppleHDAController.kext

- It is saying something about Cpu=0

I have removed AppleHDAController from the /system/library/extensions/ which did not solve the problem.

Hi,

First you only need to install 1 chipset(2 causes problems) only use ICHX sata.

Second don't install any audio, just download from voodoo and install,

Third power management i only use AppleACPIBatteryManager and clam shell.

forth fixes and patches i only used seatbelt kext and usb mount fix, you dont need the rest

Fith DSDT patches, Patch DSDT.

Sixth AppleSMBIOS-27 rev6 macbook,

Thats about it i would suggest a reinstall as other wise it may cause more problems(i think i am on my 10th install), i have the same laptop as you and so far the only major issue i have, is that i have yet to figure out how to get divx movies to play correctly using either quick time or VLC.

Good luck

Raz

I hate to bump this thread but can anyone help me out on my last problem? ;)

i did remove the applehda from /s/l/e and then use kext utility to install a voodooHDA.kext that i found. i did try voodoohda.kext before but this one is compile for snow leopard i dont know what is different but it worked for me.

you can find it here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=175372 the one that worked for me was SL_PS2_HDA.zip
