nepali_gurkha
hey, I did a Xbench test, everything besides the disk test is great. Im running 10.4.6 (AMD athlon 64 3500+) I'm using a Maxtor IDE 20GB hard drive, half for OSX and other half FAT32. But these are the results i'm getting for the disk test: :pirate2: Disk Test 2.85 Sequential 1.90 Uncached Write 1.57 0.96 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 1.67 0.94 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 3.07 0.90 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 1.86 0.93 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 5.70 Uncached Write 8.02 0.85 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 2.96 0.95 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 40.46 0.29 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 4.66 0.86 MB/sec [256K blocks] The score is really low! what could be causing this? fOZf8
It's not about you're hdd, it's about your ide chipset mate, as far as OSX is concerned, 9 out of 10 hdds are all the same to it. I have the same problem with my Asrock athlon board, the secondary IDe won't even work, and the Primary is slower than molasses running uphill...I had to edit the VIA sata kexts to get OSX to recognize my southbridge, and then moved my install over to a sata drive...fast and furious now...although too many other issues that dont work right on my Athlon, so I just stick to OSX where it works best, on a Pentium chipset.
