ultrasoul
I tried using the MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso (I burned it onto a DVD+RW) to start the installation on my Inspiron 6000 (GMA 900) but to no avail. Error message is repeated 6 to 7 times one after another: "EBIOS read error. Media error. ZBlock 5886. Sectors 64". Same message also occured when I tried to boot it from this DVD+RW on my desktop (P 2.8c Ghz, Asus P4P-800VM). Appreciate any help/ comments. Cheers. PS: There's no problem with the DVD (it's a DVD+RW). Drives on both the Inspiron and Desktop are DVD+/-R. Rechecked torrent and it seems no corrupted sectors downloaded, i.e. image is perfect. ultrasoul
Anyone knows if this was a problem stemming from using RW media? Has anyone else used RW media and gotten it to boot from the DVD-/+RW? Mebster
I used a DVD-RW and it works fine. Bit more story When I used the DVD I did get a reading error during installation. Happened every time. Turned out my drive burner was the problem and so I switched it with an older DVD player drive. I'm starting to wonder whether the problem was actually the fact that I used a DVD-RW (or +RW can't remember). Maybe if u used just a DVD-R disk I would still be able to use by DVD burner. Interesting... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18772-can-you-use-dvd-rw-to-burn-bootable-mac-osx-iso/#findComment-123427 Share on other sites

ultrasoul
Thanks for the replies. I finally got it to work. Reason it didn't boot with the RW wasn't the fault of the media. It was the image. I kindly advise all to avoid downloading the MyZpatched DVD (v. 10.4.5). I fixed the problem by using the Goatsec image. Conclusion: Used a DVD+RW as it will save you money Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18772-can-you-use-dvd-rw-to-burn-bootable-mac-osx-iso/#findComment-125022 Share on other sites
