I REALLY want to install Leopard but I only have DVD-RWs to put it on, So far when I have tried to install it it boots it, but then (with -v flag) says "still looking for root device." I don't know if the DVD-RW is the problem or not. Also, I have been trying and trying to find out how to solve the root device problem and google tells me I need a new chipset driver, but I don't know how to do that, and I'm not sure if the problem is the DVD-RW or the driver.

Windows sucks Ubuntu is awesome but unsupported, Hackintosh is the way to go! (but keep all three).

That's the answer: It's unrelated to your use of a DVD-RW; it's the lack of support for the chipset that manages your hard disk.

but I don't know how to do that, and I'm not sure if the problem is the DVD-RW or the driver.

You need to identify the chipset, track down a driver, and find a way to insert that driver into your boot process. If you can find a distribution that supports your chipset, this will be relatively painless. If not, you'll need to jump through more hoops. (Hoops with which I'm unfamiliar, so I can't give you more specific details.)

Windows sucks Ubuntu is awesome but unsupported, Hackintosh is the way to go! (but keep all three).

OS X on standard PC hardware is not what I'd call "supported." You'll get more in the way of official support (from hardware makers and various types of official software support) for Ubuntu than for OS X on PC hardware. You can get community support for both, of course, but don't expect help from Apple or your hardware manufacturer if you're running OS X on anything but a real Macintosh.

I generated this using Ubuntu Jaunty terminal: command=$sudo lshw

(Much snippage in the above.) This indicates that you've got an nVidia MCP73 chipset handling the IDE interface. Other lines in your output call this same chipset the nForce 630i. The video is handled by a GeForce 9500GT. Look for drivers for these, and particularly for the MCP73/nForce 630i.

So from what I can tell I need to a) find a distribution ISO that supports my chipset

or b ) get the driver and....I'm not sure.

Will this solve my problem, and if so, how do I add it to the ISO?

There was a link here until I discovered that it didn't work, and I don't know why. I cant even put it as text, it rewrites it as a URL, which is subsequently invalid. I am looking up how to patch an ISO, hope it isn't confusing, and I'm just going to assume I got the right patch.
