  1. Specs in sig. I successfully installed OS X 10.6 using iAtkos S3 Version 2 on my intel machine. I selected all the options I thought were applicable for my system. I selected the qpooz 10.3 kernel for the isntallation. The first time I installed I forgot to select options and had the same problem. (Using stock kernel for first install.) When I booted up OS X, I got a white apple on a grey background, then my machine shut down. In verbose mode I got some more clues, which I don't care to type up. See the attached bad photo. The last line is "CPU halted. It is now safe to turn off your computer." I took a video of the entire boot process in verbose mode, if you wish to see all of it. I tried some different boot flags, including -x maxmem=2048 busratio=33 (supposedly this is correct for my CPU) and different combinations of them. None worked. I tried -s, which did get me to a CLI. I tried repairing the partition with the install disk. It said it fixed a few things, but it still shut down when I booted it. SATA is in AHCI mode. I think that about covers it. Thanks.

    Mysticus C PPF Patch

    PM'd verdant and he re-uploaded :]
  3. I am following this guide and need the mysticus c ppf patch. If anyone has it and could re-upload it/attach it in a post here/give me a working link that would be fantastic.
  4. The problem with that is that my *cough* terrible bios is locked by *cough* crappy Acer. But it DOES give me the option to put it in RAID mode. Should I do that?
  5. Yeah I've been to that post..."NVIDIA nForce Series 5 and 6 MCP (570i, 590i, 610i, 630i, 650i and 680i) chipsets..." lo and behold I happen to have a 620i chipset (one of the few not listed there). I will look at it again, more closely, and check out your blog.
  6. When I try to install distros such as Kalyway I get the "still waiting for root device" error. I read that this is related to the chipset kext, but the only way to add kexts to kalyway is with another mac, which i don't have... However, in my desperation I have downloaded several other distros. I still haven't figured out how to add kexts to them though. Maybe this also has to do something with AHCI? Also, I can't make any big BIOS changes because my lame Acer BIOS is locked...unless someone knows how to unlock it? I've got a big list of backdoor passwords for it but don't know what to do with them. Maybe if I pm'd the guy that wrote this he would be able to help me, but I need to know which controller is the one that I need a kext for (see attached screenshot). 7. I am trying to install iPC 10.5.6 Final on my pc, but whenever I boot it, it loads a few things, the last thing it says is hard to see because it reboots so fast, but it's something with a bunch of numbers and then "buffer" then more numbers then "header," or maybe it's the other way around, doesn't matter too much. The flags I have tried are: -v -x -f rd=disk0s1 platform=ACPI|X86PC but nothing helps. This is for a sata hd using an nforce chipset on an Acer motherboard with bios R01-B4. My dvd drive is also sata. PLEASE HELP ME, I've been trying to get os x on this stupid thing for almost a year now. ALTERNATIVELY, when I use other distros such as Kalyway I get the "still waiting for root device" error. I read that this is related to the chipset kext, and the kalyway has the nforceata kext that my chipset would need, so I'm not sure what to do. I did find an nforce kext on here that SPECIFICALLY lists my sata controller as being compatible, but the only way to add kexts to kalyway is with another mac, which i don't have... please help me :*( Edit: For any admins that come across this post, I think you should lower the minimum posts requirement for making a new topic (maybe 3 would do it).

    GeForce 7050/nForce 620i problem

Hello I have the exact same computer as you (with some modifications) and I tried and tried to get os x on it but I failed. If you are completely successful I will be VERY happy. The things I modded are: vid card==>EVGA Nvidia GTS 250 ram==>2 2gb ddr2 Samsung hd==> 500gb Seagate (I kept the 320gb Samsung it came with as well) And I'm currently using a wireless mouse and keyboard, don't know if that matters.

    OSx86 Install DVD-RW?

So from what I can tell I need to a) find a distribution ISO that supports my chipset or b ) get the driver and....I'm not sure. Will this solve my problem, and if so, how do I add it to the ISO? There was a link here until I discovered that it didn't work, and I don't know why. I cant even put it as text, it rewrites it as a URL, which is subsequently invalid. I am looking up how to patch an ISO, hope it isn't confusing, and I'm just going to assume I got the right patch.
  12. I REALLY want to install Leopard but I only have DVD-RWs to put it on, So far when I have tried to install it it boots it, but then (with -v flag) says "still looking for root device." I don't know if the DVD-RW is the problem or not. Also, I have been trying and trying to find out how to solve the root device problem and google tells me I need a new chipset driver, but I don't know how to do that, and I'm not sure if the problem is the DVD-RW or the driver. Windows sucks Ubuntu is awesome but unsupported, Hackintosh is the way to go! (but keep all three).
