I've installed iAtkos 10.5.7 without issue but I have to have AHCI enabled to get iAtkos to boot.

I really really really HATE AHCI - its making my Windows {censored} slow and it adds 5 seconds to boot time.

Is there any way to change my existing install of OSX to remove the need for AHCI. If I disable AHCI in BIOS then OSX boots to a screen with a "no entry" sign under the Apple logo and hangs.

My machine is an Nvidia 9300 chipset (Asus P5N9300 barebones) if that helps?

Please.. I would love to have OSX and XP so I can use OSX and the family XP until I wean them off it?!

I'm with you. I hate AHCI. I have built 3 systems. 2 have not needed AHCI but 1 has for some reason. 2 of the systems were exactly the same except for bios revision. If you figure it out I would like to know. I have an extra sata drive that I was going to install IPC again to see if i can duplicate my results.

First link suggests editing kexts which may work.. I assume there is an NVIDIAATA.KEXT I can edit ?
Well, I guess it's about editing IOATAFamily.kext>Contents>Plugins>AppleIIPIXATA.kext>Contents>Info.plist. Though inserting Device/Vendor ID to NVIDIAATA.KEXT may help to.

Second link is about getting Windows booting with AHCI which I already know how to do and do NOT want.... really!!
Oops! :(
