I have spent the past few days trying to get Mac OS X to install on my machine. Here are my specs:

ABIT KV8 Pro motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 3700+

Two 250GB SATA drives on a RAID1 mirror

The KV8 motherboard uses a SATA driver (VIA) that is supposedly supported by Mac OS X.

My keyboard and mouse are both USB. I have a backup keyboard that is PS/2 and is plugged into the system.

Almost every time I try booting up with the Mac OS X install DVD (MACOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_MYZ.ISO), I will get to the screen where I can choose my language, but neither my keyboard nor my mouse will function. This includes my PS/2 keyboard. I have read that there may be some problems with the onboard USB controller on my motherboard, but even if I disable USB in my BIOS and boot to the install DVD, my PS/2 keyboard *still* refuses to work.

Now, I say "almost every time" because it did work once. Once, randomly, my PS/2 keyboard worked. I wasn't able to configure the disk using the disk utility, though, since I had no mouse and wasn't able to choose menu items using the keyboard.

I have tried my best to recreate the scenario of the PS/2 keyboard working, but to no avail. I cannot get any input devices to work in the install CD.

So, I followed the instructions located on this HOWTO:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...ATA_hard_drives

Though it's specifically written for Nvidia controllers, I thought it still could be useful for me. I am able to boot Mac OS X in VMware, my dd copy worked fine, I copied the image to a primary partition of type 0xaf. I downloaded chain0, put it in C:\, and added the proper line to boot.ini. But now, whenever I select the option off of the Windows boot loader screen, all I get is a blinking cursor in the upper-left hand portion of my screen. No errors or anything.

So, I cannot boot off of my hard drive at all and when I try booting into the install CD I cannot use a keyboard or mouse. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

If I were you, I would download and install 10.4.6. Well, other than that it would be great if you could try other keyboard/mouse (even USB ones). But frankly, I suspect that the problem is related to your mobo, not with your keyboard and mouse.
