Surrept Posted September 15, 2009 Share Posted September 15, 2009 I've got OSX and Vista setup in a dual boot environment. They work properly using some program within vista so that vistas bootloader has the options for OSX and Vista both. When I select OSX it goes to the Chameleon RC3 bootloader screen and all is well. What I would prefer, and I don't know if this is possible, is to use ONLY the Chameleon bootloader to choose between OS's. I like its interface a lot more. It uses nice higher resolution icons when choosing which to boot from. I could never get it to work though. If I installed OSX after vista, the bootloader would load but choosing the Vista icon never worked, when installing vista after OSX vista would take over the boot until I used that bcedit program or whatever its called to add osx to the vista bootloader. Is there anyway to eliminate the vista bootloader and use only Chameleon RC3 at this point, preferably without having to reinstall anything? Any help is much appreciated. dirtyCreations Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009 If you install Vista after any os, Vista will automaticly load windows dootloader. You have to manually modify boot.ini to get what you want or reinstall Chameleon. I do not know much about chameleon as I am experimenting myself, but I do know about windows. Surrept Posted September 25, 2009 Author Share Posted September 25, 2009 Heheh. I don't think you do know about windows... no offense. There is no boot.ini to edit in vista. It is not XP. There are special programs to edit vistas bootloader, which I have obviously done based in my post. My question was how would I reenable the chameleon bootloader so the vista bootloader takes a backseat. I prefer the visual interface of chameleon rc3 which works just fine with my install of OSX.
