tanbk168 Posted September 13, 2009 Share Posted September 13, 2009 Hi, I have SL installed and there is sound only in i386 mode, that is 32 bit mode. When I installed SL, the default was x64 and there is no sound. So I have to edit the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and add in arch=i386. However, I would like to run in 64-bit mode. Can anyone please help me to convert the AppleAC97Audio.kext into 64bit? Or maybe there is other way? Thanks. jorsh Posted September 13, 2009 Share Posted September 13, 2009 Hi,I have managed to install SL using BlackOSX's guide. However, i'm not able to have any sound. The sound preference was grey out. But I installed sunflower and can have options to choose but still no sound. I have vanilla 10.5.8 and sound was working using AppleAC97Audio.kext with some tweaking to the io reg. But now, using the same kext, it does not work. Does anyone has a working kext for ALC850 which is Audio 97 compliance? Or other helps will be appreciated. Thanks. See my signature for the specs. try booting in 32 bit mode... if your bootloader is chameleon 2 rc2 or below i think the flag is -x32 if it is chameleon 2 rc3 then it is arch=i386 some kexts are 32 bit only... and that would be as far as i can help since my SL is not booting!!! I tried for 2 weeks since the release and realised that I have not selected the correct options in my BIOS on the SATA/IDE... The previous settings made the IDE as primary and SATA as secondary... After I changed the settings to only SATA, it works... I did not realised this because it shows only Enhanced and it did not seem that I can choose anything but after I switched option, there is another suboptions... Another thing is I use the blackosx guide using BootCD mehod... plus DSDT.aml from other expert... I have snow leopard on my pc and alc850 work with apple azalia audio in extra extension and appleac97audio in system/library/extension. Isn't important 32 or 64 bit mode!
