how do you think we are supposed to help you if we don't know anything about your hardware????

let's assume you tried to install this to your kitchen sink, no wonder it doesn't work :D

ok, jokes aside. from what you are saying it's probably your graphics card is asleep on boot. would you happen to have a gma950? if yes, I can help you. if no you need somebody else to help. But first: Post your hardware!

of course, you're right.

my graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GT 120 and the mainbord is Asus IPIBL-LB with patched bios.

leopard 10.5.8 work fine with quard core support.

need more infos?

thanks alexander,

this is the only card i have. actually i try lifehackers-version. i will report.

at this moment it installs ...

the same with lifehackers-version: boot=okay, installing=okay and then black screen.

is there any startoption to start with standard vga or so?

as I explained in the pm you send. you likely have natit.kext installed (silent natit?). that will show nvidia in system config, been there - done that.

the gman950 is working fine with qe and ci with stock kexts. you just need to boot the system in 32bit and use gma950 EFI string in c.a.boot.plist. in my case arch=i386 at the chameleon prompt does it. (no, I have tried every combination in c.a.boot.plist without luck).

assuming the display is just asleep:

1) boot into system with external monitor

2) enable sleep corner in expose (make a corner activate sleep/wake)

3) disable autologin in user accounts

4) install screen sleeper solution

5) shut down system

6) detach external monitor

7) boot up

8) drink a beer and one for me too if it works

cheers

Hi

thanks for your quick answers.

I drop Natit.kext, and now my Graphic card is well recognize as show

is this a laptop? please report your hardware, otherwise we will try to find a needle in the hay stack.

sounds like you still have the external attached? if yes, you shouldn't. did you boot with arch=i386 flag at boot prompt? gma950 kexts only work in 32bit.

did I write -x32??? nope. I don't even know how you installed it. via hidden EFI partition?

edit1: scratch that. I see you have core solo. That will load X32 automatically and your gma950 kexts should be fine. still tell me how you installed it.

so which kexts are in the Extra/Extension folder on your EFI partition or other place you have your extra folder.

I tri arch=i386 no change

I don't use EFI partition

in the Leopard/Extra/Extension/

AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

Disabler.Kext

Fakesmc.kext

and with a kext utility, i made extensions.mkext

yep, you are already 32bit, as noted above, no need for the arch=i386 or -x32 with your core solo. you also need to use gma950 EFI string in com.apple.boot.plist for it to work.

All right, and how i have to write

i try that

<key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1b,0x0)</key>

<dict>

<key>built-in</key>

<string>0x01</string>

<key>layout-id</key>

<key>AAPL,HasPanel</key>

<string>0x00000001</string>

<key>model</key>

<string>GMA 950</string>

</dict>

but i have a big bug

And for the 1 CPU, it's because, when i actived dual core in bios, it doesn't work (very very loooong)

no and no. the hardware you gave me said core solo. You have a core2duo? running in circles here. give me the true hardware you got. Attached a c.a.boot.plist that works for me. Note that there is a kernel flag arch=i386 in there but it doesn't do anything. with cpus=1 you don't need to change BIOS. If you in fact have a core2duo then you do need to use arch=i386 at the chameleon prompt (when you see your drive icons at start up just type it). Just to make sure you do not have a hidden EFI partition. if you do you also need to change the com.apple.boot.plist in there.

com.apple.Boot.plist.zip

close my friend. just read what I already wrote above. your gma950 display goes to sleep and needs to be woken up.

5am is no excuse :D

1) boot into system with external monitor

2) enable sleep corner in expose (make a corner activate sleep/wake)

3) disable autologin in user accounts

4) install screen sleeper solution

5) shut down system

6) detach external monitor

7) boot up

8) drink a beer and one for me too if it works

9) since it's France, it's probably a good red wine. I like Châteauneuf-du-Pape (in fact I biked there many years ago with a friend, I love the Provence). :dev:

cheers

Now it work perfectly, many thanks.

I Had to stay in single CPU in bios, because CPU=1 doesn't work.

Not important

Thanks

PS : I was in normandie, i hope you don't hate that !

Many many thanks, you're great

make sure it reads cpus=1 not cpu=1

maybe a noob question... but where do I need to put com.apple.Boot.plist?

/Extra ? is that enough coz I've seen this file all over the place on the pre-boot cds...

running snow leopard 10.6.1, chameleon rc2, external usb drive if it matters. everything works except that annoying 950 gma :(

  • 2 months later...
assuming the display is just asleep:

1) boot into system with external monitor
