JopieK
Version: Patched 10.4.6 (JaS DVD+Patch) I just installed Mac OS X on my nForce 4 (Asus A8N SLI) system. It installs everything, but I have some nasty problems... The system does not reboot after installation (it keeps showing the 'progress wheel') At boot time it also keeps showing the splash screen with that 'progress wheel'. I tried 'cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/Apple\ MacOS\ X/' with no luck. I also get at bootup on the spash screen after a while what looks like a mouse pointer (square something) with "No" sign (like http://www.olivo.net/dat/forbidden.png but then of course in gray). Johan Korten Addition: I'll try this solution to the reboot problem which seems to be coming along with an nForce 4 mobo: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...pic=13881&st=20 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18557-mac-os-x-problems-on-reboot-and-boot/ Share on other sites
Deviant0ne
That reboot method works like a charm. As far as your system not booting - it could be many things, i.e. I've read OS X has troube with nForce4 SATA... JopieK
yes, so I noticed, I use PATA for that reason I'm tring to update /Library/Preferences/Systemconfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist but since there seems to be no vi or so it is difficult... Rammjet
but since there seems to be no vi or so it is difficult... vi is there and spawns vim. nano and pico both work too, assuming you get properly booted of course. baron_iv
vi is there and spawns vim. nano and pico both work too, assuming you get properly booted of course. You don't even need to be properly booted. Once the system is installed, you can boot from the DVD and chroot to the new installation, and use nano from there. chroot /Volumes/xxxx (where xxxx is the name of your hard drive which you installed os x onto). From there, it's as simple as: nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist Or whatever other file you want to edit. I'm having some of the same problems though, and I'm having a heck of a time finding a solution too...off to search I go! Good Luck.
