I guess my time has come, and I really need help beacause there is just so much to read, so many diferente configurations and tutorials, some complete and others that still leave you wondering... I am going to do my best to build a complete system, that I can use the new snow leopard on, and a need to just confirm the components that I am going to use. I boundled them up after reading lots of posts, hope I got it right! Motherboard Gigabyte Skt775 - GA-EP45-UD3LR iP45 Asus GeForce PCI-E 9800GT 1Gb GDDR3 Dimm 2048Mb DDR2 Kingston PC2-6400 (800) Dimm 2048Mb DDR2 Kingston PC2-6400 (800) Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz 12Mb FSB1333 Box Caixa Halfmman Lucent Black ATX 500W LC09A DVDRW LG GH22NS50 22x SATA Black bulk Disc Western Digital SATA-2 1TB 7200rpm 32Mb GP With this, am I going to have a really hard time installing? Will I have LAN (no wifi needed), sound? One more thing, buying a iLife '09 (or other software) is the installing process the same? Basiclly, using a mac or a hacmac is exactlly the same? One item I am going to use is skype, so what about webcams and mic, also going to be ok? Sorry for all this, but as a first timer, and I would really like to get it right, without to much of a hasle and without A, B or C no working... Thanks!! TomCom Posted September 10, 2009 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Check the wiki for the motherboard. I would recommand a UD3R, but it's more expensive. Never buy a crappy PSU. If it dies on load, it could fry all your components. Get a cheap Corsair CX400 or an Antec instead. You'll just need 250W for this rig. TomCom Posted September 10, 2009 Share Posted September 10, 2009 I read lifehacker last night, but be aware it'll only work with the very same hardware (not only CPU but MB, VGA card and maybe memory) since it uses a specific DSDT patch. I maybe wrong cause I'm an poorly skilled hacker, but that's what the good friend who made mine told me. If you need help for your install, choose one of those models: EP45-UD3P (a bit pricey) EP45-UD3R (probably the best choice) G31M-ES2L (very affordable and highly compatible µATX MB with 2 memory slots) Sadly, I don't know a damn thing about cameras and mikes, sorry. madax Posted September 11, 2009 Author Share Posted September 11, 2009 That would be my best bet, is to try and get all the components the same like the mobo EP45-UD3P, for 132,90€ in a local store... But the memory and graphics card I canot find near by, need more investigation... Also need to see better whats the DSDT patch, because don't know... If anyone could leave a 5c one the mic and webcam, it would be great!! Thanks TomCom!! The latest review is of the release 10.5.6 that a few worked out of the box. Guess I have about 4 diferent cameras, could test them all (if the time comes) and hopefully one of them should work....
