vilpostus
..but all fail to boot "Still wating for root" It is about the Nforce SATA controller driver. Some distros do have it, some not. The same driver is much likely responsible for burning problem. i also tried the ideneb combo update , but i get a blue loading screen after install . Try removing any VGA driver before updating. Then successful update, install the new VGA driver. The problem is that VGA drivers change from version to version, so the same driver may not work with the newer version. Also you may try connecting an external monitor. It helps sometimes. ubuntu.user
I'm curious. I wonder if IPC 10.5.6 would work on that Inspiron 531s. Did you try that one? The reason I ask is because my girlfriends computer is the same model and that is the distro I have. One day she is gonna come home from work with OSX installed instead of XP, . "Also you may try connecting an external monitor. It helps sometimes." External monitor?? You DO know this PC is not a laptop, right? vilpostus
...Did you try that one? No, I didn't. Any way your system is much different so that wouldn't be helpful. The reason I ask is because my girlfriends computer is the same model and that is the distro I have. One day she is gonna come home from work with OSX installed instead of XP, . I wouldn't do that if I were you... ...You DO know this PC is not a laptop, right? No, I didn't. Even laptops has VGA output (in most cases).
