Colour Of Sound
Hey Guys, Have trawled the forums for answers but can't find anything - if I've missed it then sorry! Here's my setup: AMD Athlon XP 4200+ Dual Core Processor ASUS M2NPV-VM with Geforce 6150/nForce 430 Graphics/Chipset 4GB RAM Seagate 70GB SATA Hard Drive IDE DVD Drive Basically, I've managed to get a (near) perfect installation of 10.5.4 running on my AMD PC. The only issues I have are with the nVidia hardware, which is well documented here. I have fixed the Ethernet interface using one of the nForce LAN kexts on one of the many tutorials, and forced my graphics into 1248x1040x32 in the bootlist file. As everyone else is, I'm waiting for that onboard GeForce graphics fix. I am a keen musician, and I really want to install Apple's latest version of Logic Pro on my Hackintosh. To do this, I need to update to at least 10.5.7. After much research, I discovered that the new Voodoo kernel 9.5.0 patches files on the fly, and was informed by many sources that as a result one could update using the combo update from Apple. However, after doing this and booting with -v, the boot freezes at a seemingly random time, usually after the Voodoo kernel is patching the Don't Steal Mac OS X kext. I removed this kext altogether and it just froze at a Firewire security message, which on a happy installation it breezes straight past. So, I decided to follow the guide that installs the dmos and disabler kexts, and with the voodoo kernel exactly the same thing occurs. I have tried re-installing voodoo after the update has finished before install, that doesn't work. I have also tried not installing voodoo, and using the dmos and disabler kexts with the kernel that comes with Lawless's release. On trying this, the screen blacks out after the large font scripts have run, and will not boot any further, thus rendering the -s command useless. I have tried various combinations of this, with and without Chameleon RC2, and nothing works. I have tried both 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 combo updates. I have thought about downloading a 10.5.8 complete installation, however I have only got GPRS mobile internet due to my remote living location and haven't gained access to broadband long enough to download a package like that. Any chance of some help? If i need to download something, anything under 10MB is fine. Hope you can help. Cheers, Chris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185131-updating-lawlessppc-1054-amdphenom-to-10578-on-amd/ Share on other sites

almeiras1984
Hi, same mainboard here. I started with ideneb 10.5.5 (ideneb 1.3) and then tried several updates. I couldn't have it working with 10.5.8, still, it works perfectly with ideneb combo update kit 10.5.7 using kernel "anv". Voodoo didn't work for me. In order to choose the kernel "anv", you can either write it in "com.apple.boot.plist" (to start always with this kernel) or type directly "anv" at the startup (when you would enter kernel flags, for using this kernel only in this specific boot). Good luck, do not give up, and get yourself a better graphics card, mine cost 50€ two years ago and has full QE/CI support. EDIT: Successfully updated to 10.5.8 from 10.5.7 via ideneb delta upgrade. I had to change to kernel "Voodoo", reboot in safe mode (-x), and reinstall the graphics driver, yet, in the end, it worked. Mäcen
I have done an installation on the same motherboard. I used iAtkos v7 10.5.7. Chameleon v2, DSDT, AppleDecrypt, Voodoo 9.7 Kernel, Disabler, OHR, nForce ATA/SATA. After install I used the nForce LAN driver, Azalia Audio and MacVidia 1.0.81 to get resolution change (no CI/QE).
