Trouble Upgrading from Kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.8 through Downloading "Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update" From Apple

Hey Folks...

I recently got the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update. When the installation process was half over, I had the gray screen and had to restart, and then the OS goes BOOM! Never loaded even in safe mode.

So, is there a way to recovering the OS or am I down to bricks?

Never update not vanilla system with a vanilla update (e.g. from apple site). You will need to restore an old kernel e.g. voodoo or tohkernel or whatever it was before the update. Delete the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in extensions folder. And restore the other custom kexts you have installed. Just restore extensions folder if you have it backed-up before the update.

Use modified updates such as iDenebComboUpdate10.5.8. This update is customizable too. So don't forget to select things needed and deselect unnecessary stuff.

Or use this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=127330&hl= to make a vanilla install, that is 100% updateable via apple update.
