d_p3ngu1n
Hello everyone. This is my first time building a hackintosh and I'm having a little bit of a problem. I have been following this guide to help me setup my bios and a flash drive properly to boot the Snow Leopard disc which I borrowed from a friend of mine: http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build...start-to-finish Every was going well until I got to the point where I'm suppose to boot up leopard and choose a language to install. My video goes out but my computer continues to run. I thought perhaps there was a delay in the startup process so I waited about 15 minutes before concluding that I have either done something wrong or there is an issue with mac recognizing and taking advantage of my graphics card. I am hoping osmeone may be able to shed some light on my situation. I am very eager to get this computer up and running =). Perhaps there is a missing file in the flash drive that I should have used to help the OS recognize my graphics card? My current setup is as follows: Gigabyte ex58-ud4p motherboard 6gb ram EVGA gtx 275 graphics processor Core i7 920 2.66 ghz d0 stepping processor If there is any more information that is required to help me resolve my problem please ask. Also please forgive me if I seem incompetent when it comes to using mac's terminal. I grew up using windows and have only recently (within the last several years) decided it was time for a change. Thank you all in advance! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/184679-ex58-ud4p-problem-with-installation-hoping-for-some-insight/ Share on other sites

Thank you all in advance! hello i have this same board and video card as well (mine is Gaynard not EVGA) originally when i tried installing ideneb v1.5.1 and iatkos v7 i had a heap of trouble getting drivers for it. I would get the installation to work but resolution was very low. eventually i gave up and got a ati 4870 512 mb i had in another computer and that worked flawlessly. full resolution QE etc. i've been using the same guide you linked to for the last couple of days but i get as far as the gray apple logo with the spinning wheel. But that's as far as it goes left it like that for over 3 hours and nothing. you seem to got a bit further than i did could you post how you set up your bios? please...i just changed to AHCI and told it to boot from the USB drive. if i can at least get it installed then i'm gonna try it with 275 gtx as well hope some one else can help out Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/184679-ex58-ud4p-problem-with-installation-hoping-for-some-insight/#findComment-1255088 Share on other sites
d_p3ngu1n
Unfortunately not. After the gray apple logo it's suppose to give us the language selection menu. My screen blanks out after the gray apple logo as well. Atleast I know I'm not alone in this problem. Hopefully someone could shed more light on a solution for us. I will try more things tomorrow. yummy1
Hi there, Long time lurker, took the plunge and unfortunately am in the same predicament as everyone on this thread. I tried to follow bbourizk's guide, but still encounter the screen turning off at the start of install issue. Just wondering if anyone else has had success with the EX58-UD4P and what seems to be related to NVIDIA 2XX cards (from what I've read on various forums)? Cheers Nick specs are very similar to the OPs Gigabyte ex58-ud4p motherboard 6gb ram EVGA gtx 260 graphics processor Core i7 920 2.66 ghz d0 stepping processor Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/184679-ex58-ud4p-problem-with-installation-hoping-for-some-insight/#findComment-1289095 Share on other sites
