Dell XPS M1530 troubles (ethernet, wireless, sound and batt. meter)

So I have installed OS X using the Kalyway 10.5.2 disc, after a bit of messing around I've got it to boot properly and dual boot with Vista.

Now I'm if I'm asking a question that has been asked a million times before but I can't seem to get either my ethernet card or wireless card to work with OS X. Now I've read somewhere that the wireless card dosn't have a fix, I don't know weather this is true or not. However the ethernet does seem to have a fix and it comes in the ofrm of a kext. Now heres my question, what is this "kext" thing? Where do I get it from? Do I already have it? How do install it? You might have to bare with me here, because I am completely new to Apple's OS's (it took my 5 minutes to find the terminal...).

Now heres my next question, the built in speakers don't seem to be working, but the volume and mute controls on the laptop seem to alter the OS X sound controls just fine. Any idea how I fix this?

Last one, sorry for all the questions. Wheres my battery monitor? I don't seem to have one in the top right, where I'm pretty sure there is ment to be one... Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Hardware Compatability List?

Well yeah, everything important is supposed to work on the M1530 aside from wireless. So I was just going to use ethernet, but that dosn't work, hence my question on how I get it to work. :S
