HackBook Pro
I need some help as to what I need to do to update from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard. I did search the forums, and I've found multiple posts about boot-132 CD's and about bootable USB sticks. Is there really a boot-132 CD for Snow Leopard? My hard drive is formatted using MBR (I edited OSInstall.mpkg on Leopard). Do I need to modify Snow Leopard to install on my MBR drive? Currently, I use chameleon to boot Leopard. In all the posts I've read about booting the Snow Leopard DVD, they all mention DSDT.aml. What is that? I don't use a DSDT.aml with Leopard, nor do I use EFI strings for my Nvidia 9800GT (nvinject/natit work fine). And, what is this FakeSMC I keep reading all about? So, my real question is, how do I update Leopard to Snow Leopard (on an MBR formatted HDD). HackBook Pro
So, how do I edit Snow Leopard to work on MBR? Is it the same as with Leopard? So, you want me to launch the SL DVD from inside Leopard? Do I need disabler/dsmos as well as fakesmc? And will all my Leopard kexts work with SL? Will chameleon boot SL, or do I need pc_efi 10.1? Will chameleon boot SL, or do I need pc_efi 10.1? fakesmc eliminates the need for dsmos, some kexts will work in 32bit mode, however chameleon defaults to the 64bit kernel, so none of your kexts will work in 64bit mode, i'm not gonna post a link but googling 'install snow leopard mbr' 2nd result should help you out for MBR, you need to expand the snow leopard onto your harddrive, get the osinstall.mkpg replacement for MBR and replace the one on the snow leopard dvd, that should let you install it on an MBR partition, only 64 bit kexts work in 64bit mode, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/184392-updating-from-leopard-to-snow-leopard/#findComment-1253121 Share on other sites
