retroz
Using a AMD SSE2 chip, I ran LOGIC EXPRESS and got a core audio error -10011, overload with CPU spiking at 98%. I then loaded Tracktion which I own and ran the default project. This would not even play. It sputtered and gave me a OVERLOAD audio core error running via a mackie 400F Firewire interface. I then booted to windows, open the PC version of tracktion and the CPU meter hardly moved, hoovered around 2% or so. So wherein lies the problem??? Sabr
Hmmm... Just wondering - what temperature is your CPU at? You have an SSE2 AMD64 chip, running at 3.2 Ghz! retroz
Hmmm... Just wondering - what temperature is your CPU at? You have an SSE2 AMD64 chip, running at 3.2 Ghz! You Know, I don't know why Mac shows it as 3.2, it's a 2.0 chip running at 2.7, and very cool. All the DDR and Specs are within specs of higher clocked chips and the memory, voltage, etc, all within spec. For some reason, it showed up as 3.2 when you click about this computer, so suffice to say, it thinks it's a 3.2. I guess I never changed that when updated the profile and was a mind slip need to fix that. Anyway, the audio stutters, and does not play, via Mackie or SoundMAX, hook up windows and all is fine. I do not mean DOES NOT PLAY, garage band plays, but load a few tracks into Logic Express and forget it, load a program I actually own, license and all, forget it, and this is via high end firewire core audio which shows up fine and under windows has 5.2 ms latency. Of course, there is the graphic issue too, in garage band, takes a second or two to load a new clip whereas using say mini or macbook, it's almost instant. Any help appreciated! Of course, waiting for the day for my toshiba laptop to run MAC OS X Centrino in 1200x1024 is the day I am counting down too. Thanks again! Thanks! retroz
Aww man, someone moved my post to here. Is this really the right place of it? I guess it should not have been in news and headlines, but is this the best place for pro audio users and perhaps some gurus that may have some inside ideas as to why this is happening? thanks! spo
I don't know if this is more likely an error due to lack of SSE3 or 10.4.4 Core Audio and Logic are both extremely dependent on those SSE3 calls that you are emulating with a patch. I found anything above 10.4.4 to be useless with my Audio applications. I own logic pro (have the dongle) and it runs fine on my system in 10.4.4 It works fine even in 10.4.6, but I can't get my Motu audio device working in anything above 10.4.4 Perhaps you have a similar problem? The only reason I have for 10.4.6 is Aperture, and it really doesn't run fast enough to warrant losing my audio apps, so you may want to consider rolling back. 10.4.4 seem to recognize all of my hardware correctly too. retroz
Thanks, but the only versions I have are 10.4.3 and 10.4.5 so how would I ROLL BACK? It's not like WINDOZE *grin! I'll probably get a macbook down the road once they drop the rediculas $150 PRICe for black, until then I'll wait and use this and my AMD64. But anway, how would I roll back, is there a way to edit kext files of search (bittorrent) a 10.4.4 release? I understand part of it could indeed be lack of SSE3 but unless I do a roll back I won't know. Thanks for any advice! spo
sorry. by "roll back" I guess I mean erase and reinstall back to 10.4.4. I think that would be a waste of time though. I'm fairly certain the problem is lack of SSE3. Good Luck!
