Hey guys -

I'm new here, so hey to all ^^ I thought I'd stay because I have a mac too, but obviously I need help with making my first hackintosh.

So this is what I've done so far -

I've downloaded the iATKOS iso, and burnt the ISO to DVD.

That's basically it.

I'm struggling to get my laptop to boot from CD, even after doing the BIOS thing.

I've read about 3 million tutorials about how to install it, but considering they all assume I've already managed to reach the installer I'm not getting any where, because I have no clue what I'm doing before I get to it, I have to mention here also that obviously I'm not technogligically retarded, I've just never done this before :P

Also - I got a program called MagicCD, which basically emulates the effects of buring an ISO to DVD, but without the dvd. But when I open the iatkos dvd in this program, it just shows a bunch of files, no bigger than 400kb in size, but obviously the iso the 3.10gb :S

I'm just REALLY confused.

Can anyone please put in the direction of one huge tutorial, where it shows me how to do it from A to B?

TIA :D

Post your specs, much easier for people to help you if they know what you're dealing with.

Forget about MagicCD, you need to boot the DVD.

One huge tutorial is hard to find because different setups require different patches/methods.

What seems to be the problem with getting the DVD to boot? Trying another distro might work, although iAtkos has worked well for me.

ummm, i have an AMD athlon 6400, 2gb ram and an nvidia gfx card

i dont really know how to boot from cd, because ive tried to do the BIOS thing, but then my CD drive doesnt actually show up in the BIOS

also, ive been told my dvd is 'bootable', but i just the program which the kid in the first youtube vid reccomends and it doesnt even say what it is, just gives me the option to find the ISO and burn the file.....

If you have no CD DVD drive shown in the BIOS, then there is no way you can boot from a cd. ;)

The problem is ever with you (you can't find the right option) or with the BIOS that can't "see" cd drives. Also check the connections of the cd drive and the motherboard.
