limneos
Hello... I managed to install SL on an ASUS P5LD2-X/1333 mobo using this guide : (which probably makes it a success story on a non-Gigabyte mobo) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181699 (btw, it needed 2 Gigs of RAM, when I tried with 1 GIG, the installer paniced at boot... or my 1 gig alone had a problem) Specs: Mobo: ASUS P5LD2-X/1333 CPU: Intel E2160 DualCore 1.80GHz Ram : 2Gigs DDR2 Kingston Vga: Nvidia 7200GS 256MB HDD: IDE + SATA LAN: D-LINK DFE-528 (PCI), Onboard Intel Pro Card (disabled from BIOS,malfunctioning even in windows) BIOS SETTINGS: ACPI 2.0 support=enabled, ACPI APIC Support=Enabled Anyways, the point is , it worked fine on first boot...I had network, I didn't have sound and I didn't have my Nvidia OpenGL enabled. But I had network and internet, the DFE-528 was recognized. Now, I did the following: I added my EFI string for my Nvidia 7200GS to com.apple.Boot.plist, rebooted and I had full graphics support (transparencies, etc). But I lost my network. So I created hex string for my network card via osx86tool, joined the strings and rebooted. I had vga acceleration,I didn't have network. I figured, I must have done something wrong or there might be a conflict with the VGA string. So, I restored com.apple.Boot.plist to it's original settings, like it was on first boot (no efi strings) and rebooted. Still no network. I'm gonna try a REALTEK 8139 net card, but does anyone think of any solution? I even removed the EFI string and used natit nvidia driver, which gave me vga acceleration, but still no net. Is it that DFE-528 is not supported in SL? Forgive me if it's mentioned anywhere and I didn't find it. Thank you all in advance edit: I made changes to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist, not in /Extra... edit2: Realtek 8139 worked.... tapper00`
Is it possible that the first time you booted, it was in 32 bit mode. And subsequent boots have been in 64 bit mode? Default boot is 64 bit. A lot of network drivers are only 32bit compatible at the moment. Just a thought.
