Hi, I have a dell dimension e510 (P4 SSE3 processor) with Ideneb 10.5.6 installed. I installed everything, and it all works, but I get the kernel panic whenever I try to mount a dmg. So I guess the first step would be to update the kernel?

I installed the Sleep 9.2.0 kernel. If I want to update, what should I download?

Sigh. Read the first sticky post in this forum.

That said, the real fix for this is using a kernel that matches the version of Leopard that you are running. So if you're on 10.5.8 you should be using a 9.8.0 kernel.

Remember you cannot run the original "vanilla" Apple kernel on a P4.

The last official release of the Voodoo Kernel is 9.5.0 and can be downloaded from the xnu-dev google code site. Don't forget to grab the .pdf manual as well. There are unofficial versions of 9.6.0 - 9.8.0 available, just search. I recommend the Qoopz releases (see my signature).

If you switch kernels manually remember to set the correct permissions on it before rebooting, like this:

sudo chmod 644 /mach_kernel

sudo chown root:wheel /mach_kernel
