First off I would like to say that I am new to this OS ;)

I recently bought a GA-G31M-ES2L and received a Rev.2 board.

Got video, and sound to work but not the onboard lan. I know its because its a Atheros chipset that it does not work out of the box.

The real thing that bugs me is the restart and shut down not working. Is there a setting in the installation that I should select to make those work?

Using iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6 disc

hmm; it worked out of the box for me on both retail and iDeneb... did you see an43 dot com?

beeba, please tell me specifically what kext files you used out of this website to make the lan work on your "rev 2.x" mobo. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Get VoodooPower.kext... I'm not sure where to download it at, but if you google it you shouldn't have much trouble finding it. It worked for me. Everything works for me except for ethernet and sleep. Does anyone else with rev. 2 have trouble with sleep? If not, what kext did you use? I tried sleepenabler to no avail.

Hi There,

Having spent most of my weekend trying to get this MB to sleep I have pretty much given up. HOwever I stumbled accross your thread and thought that I would see if you ever solved the issue. If you have can you let me know what you did. im getting frustrated trying to get it to work.

I was not able to get this motherboard to sleep in Leopard (I gave up...). I did, however, get it to sleep with a vanilla install of Snow Leopard. =) Everything except for Ethernet works great in snow leopard.

I think these are the kexts I used.

FramebufferDisabler.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext

LegacyAppleRTC_32bit_Only.kext PlatformUUID.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext fakesmc.kext

There's a good guide for installing snow leopard on rev. 1 that works well for rev 2... google something like "install now leopard ga-g31m-es2l snow leopard" and look for the guide on how to install it from vanilla.

Good luck.
