I've been running 10.5.8 for sometime with no trouble. I decided I'd try Snow Leopard on a separate disk - almost no risk if I don't touch my working drive.

I must have done something wrong because now I have an interesting problem on my 10.5.8 drive.

When I start the computer - or wake it from sleep - I have a long delay before I can use my mouse or keyboard. It's just over a minute - 67 seconds when I timed it. After they start working, there is no other problem.

This is different from the Mouse Lag issue related to nVidia cards. I did have that problem, and I've solved it.

Anyone heard of this or know which sys logs to look at? I'm stuck trying to solve this.

Thanks!

It looks like I knocked something when I installed the second drive. The problem is fixed now.

For anyone experiencing the same problem, here's how I fixed it:

In the Kernel Log, there was this error message:

AppleUSBEHCI Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out!

So, I unplugged all USB devices & rebooted. That didn't solve it

I unplugged a card reader that's plugged into my motherboard & unplugged the front USB entries. That got rid of the message

Then I tested sleep: it worked! No delay after waking

Finally I plugged everything back in one by one & tested after each one. Everything is now plugged in and it's working

So it looks like I had a short on one of the motherboard USB connections or something.
