I was able to successfully install several different flavors of OSx86 but once I reboot the computer the apple logo comes up and the circling thingy goes on for a minute and then stops. After that I can hear the initial boot music but the frozen apple logo screen remains. If I turn on the text reader with alt+F5 I can get through the initial startup phase and still the frozen apple screen remains. Its rather disappointing. When I boot with -v, the last line that comes up is the one that mentions the startup dialog. As far as I can see, this should be working aside from the video issue. I need help!

My computer is an Compaq V2030US.

No one has seen this issue before? I imagine that it has to do with the video driver but I am a PC tech and Mac is not my forte. If someone knows of the correct video driver to install and some method by which I can install it without video I would appreciate it.

I may be able to offer a little advice, but also i am acustomed to PC's but had a similar issue as you. My suggestions would be to install without selecting any graphics drivers at installation you can always add the appropriate kext later. If that still does not work, at bootup type cpus=1 when you reach startup options. I hope this will help because it helped me but i was running leopard, i dont know if it would make a diffrence but just give it a try. ;)

Thanks for the "no video driver", that seems to have done the trick as far as booting into the GUI. How would I go about injecting the correct driver for it at this point? and does one even exist for this particular hardware? (I'll edit later with the exact model of my graphics hardware)

I have been able to get everything but power management working on this machine with the above mentioned version of 10.4.8 ...

My question is this; Is this laptop capable of running 10.5.x? All of the mac software that I have available to me is not compatible with anything below 10.4.11. Thanks
