Petruza
Hi, I'm trying to install OSX86 but each time my hard drive isn't recognized at all, nor any of its partitions. Any clue on how to overcome this? I don't know if changing the kernel or adding kexts could fix this, but I don't really know if I even have the chance to do it, because early at the start of any of the installs, it says "choose where to install OSX" and no drive shows up. My computer is a Compaq Presario F755LA with this Specs: Processor AMD Mobile Sempron 3600+ / 2.0 GHz ( it's SSE3, I think ) Sata disk Western Digital NVidia GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M I tried this OSX86 distros: XxX 10.5.6 iATKOS 7 Kalyway 10.5.2 iPC 10.5.6 iDENEB 1.4 - 10.5.6 Thanks in advance! vilpostus
I guess you did miss the step of preparing the partition to install to with Disk Utility. If so, after choosing the installation language, select the Disk Utility from Utilities menu. There you can create a HFS+ partition. Close the Disk Utility after you're done. Now continue installation. There must be some choice to install to. It is the very basic procedure described in any guide. Or I did understand you wrong? Sorry than. If you can not see any drives in the Disk Utility, it is some different story. In this case you may probably have a RAID disk or other unsupported disk controller. In order for OS X to "see" it the driver for such a RAID must exist in OS X's install disk. How have you set up your hard drive......OS X needs to be on a primary partition to be booted from and OS X does not recognise unallocated space on a hard drive.....OS X recognises FAT32 and NTFS formatted volumes..... For most/new users partitioning (using OS X Disk Utility) your OS X volume as Master Boot Record (MBR) rather than GUID Partition Table (GPT) causes fewer problems.........especially if you want to dual boot Windows OS (especially XP) on a PC with BIOS rather UEFI.....see here for example... Format the OS X volume as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using Disk Utilities.... Petruza
Thanks guys, I guess it was just the hardware. I installed iATKOS on my new intel PC without any problems.
