cokewithvanilla
tried that kext and it didnt work. tried another network package, didnt work either. I won't have any more luck in snow leopard, will I? Currently, with no wlan and no graphics card, there is kinda no point of OS X Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181076-iatkosv4-installed-booting-fails/page/2/#findComment-1232517 Share on other sites

Currently, with no wlan and no graphics card, there is kinda no point of OS X This may seem retrograde but some have claimed that Atheros 5008 works out of the box and is recognized as an Air Port card in OS X by Kalyway 10.5.2......so try Kalyway 10.5.2......it is the most compatible distro I have come across for most systems..... UPDATE EDIT Also see here......worth a shot with Kalyway 10.5.2.... cokewithvanilla
kalyway 10.5.2 fails miserably. Thats like the 7th distro that i've tried that won't even get to the install screen. This one stops almost instantly and just reboots... it doesn't even get a chance to load anything. I think I may just forget os x on this laptop. I have been trying different things for about 12 hours now. I don't think anything is gonna make this run perfectly. for some reason it says my w7 install is corrupt or something... I know its intact, but this is the second time with installing these distros that something haseffed up w7 so it can't rebuild the bcd. Atheros AR5418 is an upgraded AR5008 chipset AFIK......and still claimed to work out of the box like Airport Extreme...... 2. With Kalyway 10.5.2 Install DVD Try booting the DVD with: -v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC -legacy If no joy, the try -v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC -legacy modbinkernel If you boot into the Installer OK, then in Customize choose: Fonts and Languages [Your choice] Kernel [kernel_922_modbin] Graphics and Audio Drivers [None] Network Drivers [None] Mobo Chipset [Default choice i.e. all] Thirds Application [Your choice] Patches -> Hardcoded SMBIOS [AppleSMBIOS-27-Default] No other selections under Patches Others Patches -> [TimeMachineFix] AMD 10.5.2 Patches -> [AMD_1052_Patch_test_1] If you are able to install successfully, then boot with -v -f..... 4. One other suggestion is to disable ACPI 2.0 in BIOS as I assume you have set the Storage Mode to AHCI if it is an option in you BIOS...... 5. Other AMD distros are LawlessPPC-10.5.4-Phenom-AMD iATKOS 4a AMD Leo4Allv4.1 AMD Apart from this, I am running out of obvious things to suggest......sorry......
