cokewithvanilla
After trying many distros, I fianllly got Iatkosv4 to complete installation. However, when I go to boot for the first time, the computer just shuts down then reboots. It will do this no matter what flags I type in. ANy ideas? cokewithvanilla
I'll try that. This would mean I have to reinstall, which would you recommend Ideneb 1.5.1 or iaktos v7? I would suggest trying iATKOSv7 first as it has ATI SATA/IDE for the ATI SB600/SB700 chipsets... cokewithvanilla
alright. If some of my drivers are not listed... like the 3100 series video card, does that mean it will install no associated drivers, or it will install something generic? Initially always install OS X without choosing a video driver.......you can then search insanelymac/Google for a driver for the AMD GPU..... cokewithvanilla
Alright, I am installing v7 right now, I used as few options as I could, only major change from the first install is the kernel. As for the drivers... it doesn't seem to have most of mine, but we'll see what happens. same as last time: "the installer could not validate the contents of the "10.5.7 intel" package. cokewithvanilla
ok. install successful. Few problems. My computer is running super hot... I don't think the cpu is ever slowing down. Also, no wlan driver and no video driver. How the hell do you install drivers on a mac anyway? I've never even used a mac lol I'm really in this to try out snow leopard :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181076-iatkosv4-installed-booting-fails/#findComment-1232336 Share on other sites

What did you do/not do for a successful install? BIOS settings and/or Customize choices....? 2. Check in /Systems/Library/Extensions/ for the following kexts, which if present, should be removed to a Backup folder in your OS X volume AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext (may already have been blocked/renamed/removed - Voodoo kernel should do this.....) AppleFan.kext AppleCPUThermo.kext AppleThermal.kext and then repair Extension permissions..... In Terminal, type each of the lines followed by pressing Enter key..... sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ sudo chmod -R go-w /System/Library/Extensions/ sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions/ exit and reboot with -v -f...... To install kexts use Kext Helper b7...... Install OSx86Tools and click on PCI Device/Vendor ID button....and post the resulting list.....it will help identify what drivers are needed for audio and networking...... Do not bother trying to update to 10.5.8 until you have cloned your fully working 10.5.7 OS X system to safely restore from using Disk Utility etc...... For the moment, until you can find the correct driver (kext), you can run in VESA mode by setting "Graphics Mode"="1280x1080x32@60" mode between <string></string> line below <key>Kernel Flags</key> in com.apple.Boot.plist., substituting your natural LCD screen resolution for 1280x1080...... Try EasyBCD1.7.2 or EasyBCD 2.0 Beta in Windows7 and Chameleon 2.0 RC2 in OS X.... cokewithvanilla
i have tried that resolution fix on OS x and it did not work :/ is there a recommended order of installing things? last time I insatlled osx I couldnt mnake my w7 boot for the life of me. even aftyer removing all other partitions and trying to rebuild the bcd... I'm gonna partition it in to three seperate partitions, Leopard, Snow, and Windows 7.... I'm gonna partition it in to three seperate partitions, Leopard, Snow, and Windows 7.... Install Windows 7 first on the HDD, then create a FAT32 or NTFS volume (primary) for Leopard and another for snow Leopard..... Then run Disk Utility on DVD to format the OS X volumes as HFS+ and then restore OS X Leopard to the Leopard volume..... You can try using EasyBCD to repair the Windows 7 bootloader.......but if not successful, then repair the Windows 7 bootloader using the Windows 7 installation DVD.....selecting your language, followed by "repair computer"..... Boot into Windows 7 and unhide the hidden 200MB partition (see here) and then assign it a drive letter.... Run EasyBCD.....Then add a new boot entry -> select MacOS -> Generic X86 -> Add ->Save......thats it...... What would be helpful is for you to summarise, for other readers and myself, based on my guessed BIOS settings and iATKOSv7 Customize selections that I posted for you, exactly what you did do and did not do for a successful install in terms of BIOS settings and/or Customize choices, since I do not have nor have ever had an AMD PC on which to try installing OS X...... UPDATE EDIT: BTW re your resolution issue......post what System Profiler shows for Graphics/Displays...... Type -v Settings, kernel voodoo 9.5.0, seatbelt fix, cpu=1 fix, chipset appleamd one that includes sb700, sound applesomething that includes ANY OTHER 2 channel, ethernet AppleMarvel, wlan lasti time I tried atheros any other, didnt work, now im trying the 5005. I should have the install comepleted in a few more minutes, then I will be able to try some things to get the video resolution up... I will try that edit thing again, but any other solutions might help, as 3100 DOES NOT SEEM TO BE SUPPORTED Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181076-iatkosv4-installed-booting-fails/#findComment-1232470 Share on other sites
