I accidentally wrote over the bootloader that could see osx and now I can't boot into it. I have tried

everything and can't get it to load. Is there any way I can boot into it so I can install a boot loader that

sees it? Please help me. Thanks!

Hello? I still need help. Thanks!

Boot from what dvd? If you are talking about the leopard dvd, I have tried burning about 7 dvd's of ideneb and kalyway and none of them will get to the install screen. they just reboot automatically. I still can't boot into mac.

So how did you write over bootloader? Were you already running Leo? If so, how did you install it before??

When booting from dvd at darwin bootloader press F8 and type: -v cpus=1

Press enter and see what happens.

It will be really helpful if you publish your hardware specs and the distro you are trying to install.

I will try doing that on the dvd boot. I installed Zenwalk (linux distro) on a separate hd but accidentally wrote the bootloader to the drive with leopard on it. I have a stock Dell dimension 4300. It has 1x 512mb and 1x 256mb sticks of ram, 1.7ghz cpu, and 2 80gb hard drives. I don't know the rest. I also don't know how it was installed prior to this because it was given to me by someone who got it from someone else. Thanks!

I tried -v cpus=1 and it didn't work. It did the same thing everything else did. It loads about 8-9 lines of things and then it restarts. When I type something else like this cpus=1 -v -x -f -s it works for a minute loading all these things and then it restarts like before. I would rather get back into it then reinstall (if I could)

Start off by re-posting your system details in full......MOBO brand and model, MOBO Northbridge and Southbridge chipsets, CPU, amount of MOBO RAM, HDD(s) -> SATA or PATA (IDE), DVDRW(s) -> SATA or PATA, how many IDE MOBO connectors, graphics card + video RAM.....

I had osx86 leopard on this computer before. I just want to boot back into it. What can I do?

Can you boot into the OS X Install DVD OK......? If so, do any of the distro DVD(s) that you got, have a standalone bootloader option and deselectable main system option?...... If so, then just try rerunning the DVD installer with only the bootloader selected.....

I can't boot into the any of the dvds I burned at all. The first, iDeneb 1.4 gives me a "you need to restart your computer" error and the kalyway 10.5.2 one restarts too before the installer comes up but different from the iDeneb one.

Start by rechecking your BIOS settings......

Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3]

What happens when you boot with the DVD with -v cpus=1 platform=ACPI|86PC -legacy

Have you tried to configure the new Bootloader from the Linux? Maybe letting it update the available HDs will solve the problem...I don't think Linux would recognise it as OS X, but maybe as "Unknown OS" if that doesn't work and the forum won't help you in the long run I'd suggest removing the Linux with the bootloader...I take it to be a fresh install, so no damage....

I burned a copy of iPC and that lets me boot into my mac again! I tried installing rEFIT boot loader and then I didn't see it in the beginning. I saw the previous bootloader. So I tried chameleon bootloader. Same thing. Didn't work. I still see the same bootloader. How do I get it so I don't have to put the dvd in to boot into it. I want to be able to boot into my windows 7, leopard, and linux. I saw that refit could do that but it didn't work just like chameleon. How do I fix this? Thanks!
