Mrpresident19
Took me about 30 Attempts, after the 30 here's what I have working.. Core 2 Extreme Q6850 EVGA 790i SLI Ultra EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 Both Ethernet adapters (Very stable) Used iATKOS v7 Had to use -x -s cpus=1 when booting the installation DVD to get Passed "Verifying package payload" About half of my tries were using different installation configurations/variations trying to get past the kernel panic that occurs when the installer log hits "Verifying package Payload" Had to use the JMicron IDE Drivers to get past "Still waiting for root device" Once I finally got the installation to succeed I ran into "Still waiting for root device" Using the Jmicron IDE driver did the trick for me, if that doesn't do it the generic IDE one should I did not get the video to work with any of the Nvidia injectors, I used The driver by Natit First tried to use the 896 injector, then the generic injector, only got Natit to work This allowed me to get into the OS where i used the 62.13 .Pkg from this thread for the Lan drivers Installing that .Pkg and a restart later had me surfing the net Will add any updates later.. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180127-guide-790i-sli-ultra-installation/ Share on other sites

drdaco
I can only boot osx using cpus=1 maxmem=2048 -v using EVGA 790i Ultra MB. there are KP without those flags I updated from iAtkos v7 to 10.5.8 and everything works ok until I tried to download XCode. Seems it's a common thing with freezing while downloading. One thing I thought about was perhaps a mem clock issue. The stock BIOS comes with Auto FSB + mem, but the mem clock > FSB clock stock on the P08 bios from EVGA. Linking them to 1333 didn't help either. its a real shame cause it's a beautiful system to waste on windows and perhaps I may want to go back to Linux I'm considering compiling the latest XNU open Kernel, one up from what I'm running now xnu-1228.15.4 Does anyone have any experience doing that? I've done that on linux but I'm not sure what sorts of things I should worry about on an OSX86 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180127-guide-790i-sli-ultra-installation/#findComment-1305365 Share on other sites
