boogi
Here's my setup: 10.5.7 Retail Vanilla kernel using Chameleon 2.0RC1 as my bootloader. I tried upgrading from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 last night and something went wrong while it was running it's post-installation scripts. The result was a somewhat working 10.5.8 but it was definitely buggy, so I reverted to a Time Machine backup of 10.5.7 and everything is working fine except my MBR somehow got messed up. Now my system won't boot (it gives me boot errors before ever getting to the Chameleon partition selection screen) and I'm forced to use a Boot-132 CD to access the OS. When I go to fdisk, it shows me this: Disk: /dev/rdisk0 geometry: 77825/255/63 [1250263728 sectors] Offset: 0 Signature: 0xAA55 Starting Ending #: id cyl hd sec - cyl hd sec [ start - size] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *1: EE 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63 [ 1 - 1250263727] <Unknown ID> 2: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 3: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 4: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused As is, I can't flag any partition to get it to work. Is there any way to fix/repair this so that I can boot w/o having to use a Boot-132 CD again? Thanks! Marclh
You can try reinstalling chameleon onto the drive. It might work. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179744-fixrebuild-mbr/#findComment-1225554 Share on other sites
