longtom
I want to switch from my Core2Duo E8200 to Quad Core Q8400s. Are there any problems in a installed 10.5.8 system to change it and boot up again with the new CPU? Googon
You'll probably need to start up with the command cpus=1 -v . And when you boot up you'll need to patch your DSDT.aml file. If you get a hand at bootup, then you might have to reinstall the OS. Beerkex'd
If he can already start without using CPUS=1 he shouldn't have to use it after upgrading. If he already has a DSDT.aml it is already patched for multicore CPUs and no change is required. smcpipint
I did that on 10.5.7, and it just worked, no changes to anything required. Beerkex'd
You can also fix 'about this mac' with OSX86Tools. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179447-core-2-duo-upgrade-to-quad-core-after-installation/#findComment-1226408 Share on other sites
