sjpapa Posted August 11, 2009 Share Posted August 11, 2009 After updating 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 from Apple, the sound stopped (no output device found), and time machine started a new instance. Hence there is no way to restore the previous system. ANy ideas how to restore sound and time machine? MB Gigabyte-EP-45-DS3LR, started from iPC 10.5.6. I followed various 'guides' on how to do the upgrade, but none of them worked for me. I had to re-install 3 or 4 times, gave up, went back to 10.5.7. On the other hand, my desktop install worked straight from the Apple update with no mods or issues at all. The iPC is 10.5.6. 10.5.7 is still available from Apple, ok. But Holly Slip@# here goes my weekend! in case I have to reinstall. Any ideas how to make images of the existing system so that a restore is possible next time? I was relying on time machine that is also po@ped with this upgrade. imacken Posted August 12, 2009 Share Posted August 12, 2009 I go to 10.5.7 from Ideneb 10.5.6 then the iDeneb 10.5.7 combo upgrade. If you are using iPC, then maybe the iDeneb upgrade will work. As far as making backup disk images is concerned, I don't know as I use TM, but surely it can't be difficult. A bit of searching should solve that one. Got iDeneb Combo+Delta. 793.6MB v 10.5.8 There is no kext for sound though ... is this the one? I dont want to ruin the rest of my installation. NB: My installation was 10.5.7 > upgraded to 10.5.8 via Apple [that ruined TM and sound]. Will the iDeneb 10.5.7 bring me back to where I was?
