  1. Any ideas for the reverse process? Create El Capitan installer from "OS X 10.11 El Capitan.vmdk"?
  2. Yuppie!! 10.9.3 synch contacts between iOS and iMac again!!! No iCloud needed! Will try out and report....
  3. I used the Hackistaller method, after the first installation, reboot on USB again, Do not let the new OS to reboot, run the hackistaller to treat the bootloader and kexts on the new drive. I only noticed that all kexts need to be in /System/Library/Extensions, nothing in /Extra. I used kext Utility to fix the kext installation. System could not boot on new mac untill all kexts installed. Got panic, and had to boot with -v -x in safe mode to fix the kexts. Now everything is ok on EP45 and EP43.. see my post in hackinstaller
  4. Hello, Something must be wrong, as I cannot boot with Chameleon on USB: Boot process stops and hangs in the middle, see screenshot. Why do I need to delete the Packages folder and copy again? There are no links, Restore moves the files. GA EP45-DS3LR
  5. Hello, Many thanks for the detailed guide. I have only a problem: DiskUtility copies only the Packages folder on the USB, the rest of Mavericks is absent. Is that ok? open /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg then restore on Disk Utility copies only the Packages folder. Is there a point of deleting the folders therein and replacing with the ones in the Mavericks.app?
  6. Hello, Many thanks for the neat guide and HackInstaller. SUCCESSFUL INSTALL of Mountain Lion 10.8 (upgrade from Apple to 10.8.5) on Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3LR. And GA-EP43-UD3L (same stuff, as same chipset). This needed some tweeks though! Use cartri BIOS. Here are the tweeks: 1. All kexts are in /System/Library/Extensions [installed with Kext Utility] 2. Nothing in Extra. Had to reboot with -v -x until all kexts fixed, otherwise panic... Here are the kexts used: AppleHDA.kext, sound, 5.1MB AppleRTC.kext, ?, 75kB FakeSMC.kext 626kB IONetworkingFamily.kext , 2.2MB JMicron36xSATA.kext, 7kB no IDE drives though... 3. All installed with Kext Utility v2.5.7 © cVad 2008-2014 4. Chameleon Wizard to tweek iMac11.1 No NullCPUPowerManagement, no AppleIntelCPU PowerManagement, they all produced panic. Graphics used: NVidia Msi GeForce 8600GTS 256MB, EFI setup on HackInstaller. Staying on Mountain Lion because of Mavericks stopped synching via iTunes the Contacts of the iPhone!!! Huge deficiency as reluctant to do so via iCloud. Happy to report more details.
  7. Hello Blackosx, I have a number of successful installs on GA-xxx with your guide, howver I still have a problem: Cannot print on the hp deskjet 7350. Printer status seems to hang on "Waiting for printer to become available". Any ideas or workarounds? Has anybody seen the issue? any other usb kexts needed? The rest (sound,.. works fine!) Is there another forum segment to post this? many thanks in advance!
  8. Tried update to 10.6.8 from 10.6.7. Everything fine except sound! The ALC888 sound card is not working on the 10.6.8 update. Any ideas how to restore sound? [GA-EP43-DS3L, very similar to this board] with cartri BIOS no DSDT. Found it the solution is in: http://www.kexts.com/view/1379-alc888_patched.html use the three kexts: Apple8xxHDA.kext, AppleHDA.kext, and HDAEnabler.kext as described.
  9. 10.6.8 officially released

Well, no sound for me after 10.6.7 -> 10.6.8 upgrade on EP43-DS3L that has ALC888. Any hints? Tried to remove [and replace with old] AudioAUUC.kext that was updated in 10.6.8 but no luck. Have still the HDAEnabler.kext in S/L/Extensions as in 10.6.7
  10. 10.6.8 officially released

any advice for sound on ALC888? [using EP43-DS3L]. Any kexts that work? many thanks
  11. 10.6.6 released

No sound for GA-EP43-UD3L, that uses ALC888. Have to fix with overwriting kexts again! Sound fixed by overwriting AppleHDA.kext in /System/Library/Extensions with the one posted here for 10.6.6 repair permissions and touch /S/L/E
  12. WAKE from Sleep via bluetooth??? Can anyone cast some light please? Magic mouse and wireless keyboard work except for wake. Yes it works out of the box. I use a Keysonic USB bluetooth dongle and the magic mouse. Other USB bluetooth devices should also work. Also the HANTOL BLUETOOTH DONGLE MINI US works OOB. But no wake [sigh] from sleep yet. However, I have the problem of wake from sleep when I use also the Apple Wireless keyboard. I am digging into the issue. Currently the computer is put to Sleep=Never, because I have to reboot everytime it sleeps.
  13. Fixed my sound on the latest 10.6.5 from SW download. Put AppleHDA to the Trash, Just HDAEnabler in /Extra, and "ALC-UniFix for 10.6.4+ Unmodified AppleHDA (ALC888 & ALC889)" from cartri.net Full cartri BIOS. All works like a charm
  14. Sound was fixed by moving AppleHDA from /System/Library/Extensions to the trash! AND use "ALC-UniFix for 10.6.4+ Unmodified AppleHDA (ALC888 & ALC889)" from cartri.net I have only HDAEnabler in the Extra folder. [10.6.5 of 17NOV2010] Works like a charm.
  15. If You Lost your Sound after 10.6.5 …. [like myself, will try this hint and report..] Posted by Cartri on Nov 12, 2010 in Fast News / ReTweets For anyone who lost sound on ALC-888: 1- Go to the site download area and download tmongkol alc 888 “10.6.3+” patched kext 2- Manually put it over /System/Library/Extensions 3- USE DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS 4- Open terminal and type: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions 5- Reboot 6- Enjoy. PS: Do not use mkext based tools such as kext helper or other automatic kext installer: they use generic permissions, Disk Utility is the best way to keep your Mac OS X clean. from: http://www.cartri.net/blog Still no sound after following cartri instructions, EP43-DS3L, ALC888. continue investigations: Finally fixed sound! There is no AppleHDA.kext in /System/Library/Extensions, just HDAEnabler in /Extra/Extensions and "ALC-UniFix for 10.6.4+ Unmodified AppleHDA (ALC888 & ALC889)" from cartri.net
