Hi.

This is the first time I post in this forum. Anyway, I looked up and down here to find a solution for this problem.. and didn't find anything that can help me. This is the old and classic "waiting for boot volume" message. This is what I get:

Waiting for boot volume with UUID B4902D05-16F7-3DED-8DAC-2002E573FC64
 Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResource</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

I've tried some BIOS changes trying to workaround this problem. This is what I tested (today):

ACPI 2.0 Support -> Enabled/Disabled

My normal config is Enabled, but disabled somehow make it stopped to crash on the "BSM auditing present" message. Even if I keep it enabled now, the installation doesn't hang on the BSM message, but hangs on the waiting message.

ACPI APIC Support -> Enabled/Disabled

Normal config is Enabled. Disable didn't change anything.

USB Support -> Enabled/Disabled

Normal is Enabled. Didn't change anything when I disabled it.

Storage configuration -> Enhaced (useful since I'm using a SATA hdd) or Compatible

Didn't change anything at all.

Another thing that sounds useful: this night I did something (I can't remember, but I guess it happened when I changed to Compatible mode in Storage Configuration OR when I unplugged everything from USB ports (bluetooth, printer and webcam)) that made the installation hangs on another message, which I don't have the complete message, only a few words:

ACPI_SMC_CtrlLoop::initCPUCtrlLoop - (......)

I've tried to install iATKOS v7, iDeneb v1.5 and iPC 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final.

This is my specs:

ASUS P5KPL-AM
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80
4GB DDR2-800 (2x 2GB, Dual channel)
HDD SATA-II SAMSUNG HD322HJ
DVD-RW SATA SAMSUNG WriteMaster (TSSTcorpo CDDVDW SH-S223F)
Onboard video controller (G31 (GMA3100))

This motherboard uses a Intel 82801 (ICH7) SATA Controller.

Is there anyone here who can help me?

Thanks!

And sorry for any english mistakes. ;)

Sorry, didn't work. I tested it right now. Useful topic, but I got nothing.

Tested with all USB devices unplugged, anyway.

Btw, when I kept the ACPI 2.0 and APIC support both enabled, the installations hangs up on a BSM auditing service message, like I said before.

After disabling both ACPI 2.0 and APIC support, I got to the waiting for boot volume message again, but still hangs up:

Any ideas? ;)

Have you tried it with the older 1.4 version of iDened? I've had some waiting for root device errors a couple years back if I remember correctly. Fix was as simple as finding a distro that could work on my hardware. BTW, have you tried one of the other retail install methods?

No, I didn't. I'm gonna test that this week and post here what happened. Isn't 1.4 and older version of OSx86? I'm asking this because I like to keep everything updated :P

I'm gonna buy a video card (offboard) soon, so I'm gonna test with it too. I think I'll buy a GTS 250 (9800 GTX+). I read somewhere that this can be related with the 7MB VESA onboard gfx, something like out of memory. Well, I need a vga anyway :P

Anyway, which other retail install methods are you talking about? I'm new to this, so any help is good :(

I am not sure, but yesterday passing

rd=disk0

solved this problem while booting installation.

Sorry, it didn't work. ;) I was unable to boot anyway. When I passed rd=disk0 as parameter to the installation, it hanged up waiting for a device called disk0. That's a little insane.

You can see that (or try to see - sorry, it's a cellphone camera ;) ) here:

Tested with iDeneb, iATKOS and iPC (versions that I said before). All cases with ACPI 2.0 Support and ACPI APIC Support disabled, since with that options enabled on BIOS, installation would hang on BSM auditing service message (yes, I tested it again). BUT something Weird happened with iATKOS installation... something related with ACPI, right after the Waiting message. I think it's somekind of background acpi process reporting an error, but I'm not even sure of what I'm saying :( . You can see the message here:

Any other ideas, guys? ;)

Guys, this is odd, but I have to say that even I couldn't believe: this is not an original P5KPL-AM. This is a P5KPL-AM-CKD-VISUM (google it, aka P5KPL-AM/BR), which is a brazilian version. Yes, that's weird.

Ok, just to keep this up for someone who may know how to help me.. I've tested today (repeating old tests after a bios update):

- Kalyway 10.5.2

- iATKOS v7

- iATKOS 5i

- iPC 10.5.6

- JaS 10.5.4

- iDeneb 1.5

- iDeneb 1.4

All versions got the same problem: waiting for uuid... with a "random" (or not random?) code. No ideas. Some versions didn't even try to find the boot device with SATA on. I've tested with Enhaced mode (SATA) and with compatible mode (IDE), with and without ACPI 2.0, with and without LAN, with and without HD Audio, etc..

Any ideas? :(

Btw, this is the installation trying to find a boot device, like the dvd itself? So maybe install from usb (is that possible?) would help? If yes (and possible), could someone bring me a simple tutorial? :D

PS: I'm gonna pos this information on P5KPL-AM installation guide too, just to tell everyone about this stupid brazilian version :( Next time I'm gonna get a motherboard from US, even if I pay double for it lol

Thanks!

Now I'm testing my other topic (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=195914) (which you are helping me with :P). It's starting to get somewhere far from OSX installation, but it's getting somewhere. When USB stop working or doesn't get anywhere, I'll try some boot flags (other.. because I thought I've tested all :D ).

Thanks! :|

Same problem with Asus M3N78-EM

Help!

Your motherboard has a GeForce 8300 chipset? If yes, I'm pretty sure your problem is with that chipset. Is it supported (I don't have time to look for it right now, sorry)? If yes, how? Native on hackintosh, kext on retails, kext modification...? What did you tried? :P

PS: and what's your SATA controller? :D

so were you able to install mac on the board??...please reply as i'm new to this and have the same board as yours..please help!

Nope, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1545 for my Hackintosh. But I've found kind of a solution. Install a PCI-E card on that board and it works. Maybe the damn stupid onboard graphics is not enough to power up on VESA mode, I guess. Who knows...

I tested here after getting my GTS 250 and it doesn't hangs anymore on that line, but hangs somewhere else. Anyway, the problem itself was fixed, but I didn't want to look further for any other problems.
