sKarma Posted August 9, 2009 Share Posted August 9, 2009 Hey Guys, Im all new to the whole OSX86 Stuff and Installing OSX Distributions on a PC and Im currently desperately trying to Install iAtkos on my PC. I'm now on Day 3 trying to figure out why the hell it wont work at all. First my Specs: - MSI P6N-SLI (nForce 6 650i-SLI Chipset), BIOS: 2.2 (downgraded, should be the best BIOS for this Mainboard) - Intel Core2Duo E6600@2.4GHz (stock clocked) - 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, Corsair - GeForce 9 9800GT, MSI - Samsung 501IJ 500GB Hard Drive (SATA) - 16x DVD Drive from Samsung? (SATA) - CD/DVD Burner, LG (SATA) My current Problem is that i dont get pass the pesky "still waiting for root device" Error Screen and I did everything I could possibly imagine. I already changed all the BIOS Values to the recommended configuration so this probably wont be the Problem. I think it has something to do with the SATA Drives Im using. But Ive read already that people still get pass that Error with SATA Drives, even with my Mainboard. This one particular User used iDeneb 10.5.4. Ive tested few things out and made some Screenshots of the Boot Sequence: SATA Drives set on "RAID" Mode: http://img5.imageshack.us/i/img0400wjf.jpg/ SATA Drives set on "IDE" Mode: http://img37.imageshack.us/i/img0399war.jpg/ (both with iAtkos Darwin Kernel) I already changed all my SATA Cables and put them into different Ports on the Mainboard with no success. I really dont know what to do now, Im currently trying to get Kalyway 10.5.2, as my Hardware was listed as compatible with this release. Any hope that I could get iAtkos running? [edit] Windows VISTA is still Installed on my HDD, could this be a problem to find my HDD? My Plan was to test if the Installation Screen would Pop up, before I reformat everything on the HDD. Help :/ Ive tried kalyway now, Ill get a "SAM Multimedia: Read or Write Failed" Error with the "Speedstep Kernel", the IOATA Error with the Speedstep Kernel, both with the root device error and kabylkernel restarts my PC. Help would be great! I think the SpeedStepKernel could get me past the misery. INsERT Posted August 9, 2009 Share Posted August 9, 2009 I don;t understand, are you get error while booting to DVD or you success install it but when reboot you get error? "SAM Multimedia: Read or Write Failed" means you have error in your drive (dvd installer means it's corrupt, hard drive means you need to chkdsk it). sKarma Posted August 9, 2009 Author Share Posted August 9, 2009 Im getting the error while Installing it from the DVD drive. In fact Ive only seen the Installation on my Virtual Machine in VMware 6.5. As you can see Ill get different kinds of errors depending on the Kernel Im using. Ive already changed everything in the Bios a 1000 times to make it work. With no success. Im have a nForce 650i SLI board using the Sata controller of it. Ive found a kext for nforce boards called "nForceATA TEST", but I dont know how to put it into the .iso file. Could it fix my Problem? At first I tried iAtkos, which didnt work at all. Stopped with the "root device error" all the time. I then tried Kalyway 10.5.2 because this version was tested with my Board and got successfully installed on it but with an IDE HDDrive. In Kalyway I tried different Kernels, the Speedstepkernel stopped with the SAM Multimedia:Read or Write Error and with the "root device" error, the nForce Kernel stopped with IOATA blocking Bus Error and the "root device" error and the Kabylkernel restarted my Computer. I tried cpus=1, -v, -s, -x -legacy etc. Its always the same. Ive read in the solution Forum of an kext which fixed the SAM Multimedia Error on some Boards, so maybe its worth a try. I just dont know how to add the Downloaded kext into the Bootable DVD so I can use it while Booting from Darwin. [edit], nvm its not as easy as I thought. Maybe there is a release which includes this kext already? iDeneb maybe? If not.. if VMware works, load that and get into disk utility. From there, Get Info on your install CD and write down the UUID #. Now when you reboot on the real desktop to install, at the darwin prompt add: boot-uuid=THATLONG-UUID-NMBR-GOES-RGHTHERE -v maxmem=3072 That should force load along the lines of a standard boot132 installation. If neither of those work post back and we'll think about it more. I guess you might mean this one, right? wait, while Booting I can read the UUID in a line, I think this one is it. sKarma Posted August 9, 2009 Author Share Posted August 9, 2009 SUCCESS! I typed "rd=disk0" before I booted into the designated kernel and got past the "still waiting for root device" error! I can clearly see that the Bootloader finds my HDD! BUT: I got a KernelPanic shortly after, heres a Picture: tried cpus=1, but that wont solve my Problem :/ help! Should be a board where I can use my current hardware. But I would prefer a solution for my current mobo. They were all using a IDE Hard Drive which would probably work here too.
